Federer doesn't try or make as many drop shots as Alcaraz does though.

Federer has more Wimbledons than anyone in this era, so, sure, Federer does move forward to the net more than Rafa, Djokovic, or Murray does. Alcaraz strikes the ball harder, moves faster, and has more fire power than Federer, at least to the eye. We will have to wait and see if he can translate his game into results, which is what matters in the end, not just talking.

It is an old video, .. from 2 years and 2 months ago.. which is a lot of time in the time-frame of Alcaraz career Development as a Pro, since he is still 18 and back then he was only 16. I am sure he nowadays just want to be himself, and not like other players, develop his own personality and game style rather than attempting to be a copycat, specially when you start to be someone on tour and get exceptional results as he is getting by now.

I definitely wouldn't say that he plays like Federer in any meaningful sense, however, relative to a lot of the other young players he does play more aggressively and use more variety than most of them so in that sense he is closer to Roger. His physicality, power, and mentality remind me more of Rafa, but his slightly more aggressive nature and variety are somewhere in between Rafa and Roger.

Remember he is only 16 in that video so I wouldn't read into it much. There is a video of Nadal at age 16 saying grass is his best surface and we all know how that turned out.

If I had to choose the one his style is most similar to, I would go with Federer's, so I agree with Carlos Moya.

he is being delusional

federer's style is easy to mimick on paper, just like what Dimitrov did
but the real ingredient that separates federer and his followers is his explosiveness

alcaraz can make as many cheesy drop shots as he likes, his body and style will always be akin to Nadal

04-06 Federer is the greatest tennis player ever to grace the game. As one poster said, Roger is the Sugar Ray Robinson of tennis. In no department of the game is Alcaraz better. There could be an argument where you say Alcaraz at 18 is better than Federer at 18. But who cares?

Power? LOL please. Peak Federer had more than enough power to blast his opponents off the court. His serve + FH combo is the deadliest and greatest combination we have ever seen. The sheer pace of shot of his FH in 04-06 was mindblowing because of how little pure muscle power is involved in it. There's a reason why Nadull would attack his BH and shy away from his FH.

Peak Federer forehand is the single greatest shot in tennis history. It is perfect.

When you play with a 2HBH instead of a 1HBH, you're automatically considered a lower talent player. But you have to be a tennis player to know that. Ask anyone in a tennis academy and they'll all say the same.

Didn't we go thru this Federer nonsense with both Gasquet and Dimitrov? That worked out well. Alcaraz doesn't need to namecheck Federer- he's already taken the game, blown it up and remade it in his own way. All at 18. And as far as the Federer fanbase- that's hilarious. They'll never support Alcaraz. They're the most miserable, elitist jackholes in history. We don't want or need them. :spit:

To be like Federer, you need a 1HBH so this new kid on the block is automatically disqualified. But yes the tour is starving for attacking talent so we'll take what we get at this point.

Just to be clear - There isn't and there never will be another player like Federer because there can only be one GOAT.

This has got to be my favourite practice video of all time. Look at the easy power that Federer generates. I mean Jesus Christ, how can anything top that?

Look at the forehands starting from 2:40. Oh.my.goodness. Can't take your off eyes off, maestro! :hearts:

Can you really blame anyone for ejaculating over Federer's FH in full flight, bub?

A Spanish Fedtard player is the reason that I love this troll cave MTF. This is absolute gold. So "Carlito's Way" is actually Federer's way. Bring a needle and thread and sew my sides back together :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO::bump::rofl4::rotfl::crazy:.

I know he was only 16 in that video but no one can possibly think he plays similar to Federer. The only possible comparison between them is that they both are offensive players. Alcaraz is an offensive version of Dull. Jacked up topspin, can get to every ball and never get tired, shit serve. Alcaraz goes to net more often which isn’t saying much but as of now, he’s not good at net.
