Hi everyone. I'm creating this thread as astrology is a fascinating science that gives us a glimpse into our behaviour and future. My sunsign (according to Western Calendar) is Cancer and moonsign is Gemini (also called Mithun rashi according to vedic astrology) and my ascendant (also called lagna in vedic astrology) is Taurus.

So what does all this mean? Cancer sun signifies that I'm the most centimental sign in the zodiac and get too attached to something/someone. It's hard for me to breakup a relationship and the longing for that person lasts for a long time that's why breakups are especially devastating for me and prone to fall into depression. Cancer is the sign of the mother which means I would make the best mother (in my case father) and I love and I mean LOVE stability and donot like constant upheavals/change. I also like to stay in my shell so I'm slightly introverted and wear my emotions on my sleeve(which can be jarring for most people). I'm quite frugal with my expenses and also looking for the best bang for your buck. Cancers are also good cooks(I do make good fish curry and fish fry as I'm Goan).

Since I'm a Gemini moon, I have a dual nature and I love to experiment so I get bored quickly. I also jump from one relationship to another soon as I get bored. I can also love two girls at the same time and be perfectly ok with even though the girls maynot. I love to have fun, a mercurial person. My astrologer told me that I have an explosive temper which I wish I didn't have, it's my darkside. The biggest challenge for a gemini moon is decision making. I just cannot make tough decisions and will always want someone else's opinion on what I should do. One of the biggest traits of a Gemini moon is that they're excellent communicators which I believe I am. We're also intellectual and are in some field that is related to communication (I'm a Project Manager for example but have always wanted to be a mediaperson like a journo). We usually have sadness in our lives because even though we make great friendship it's hard to make friends and people take advantage of my friendship.

Last but not the least, my ascendant is Taurus. Those with Taurus ascendant are admirers of beauty... in all forms. I love and admire art and love renaissance art(works of Da Vinci are so impressive to me and would love to tour Europe and Italy even though I don't like Italians).
This might explain why I love beautiful players like Tendulkar, Mark Waugh, Damien Martyn, Laxman in cricket and in bowling I love Allan Donald(the most beautiful action) and Shane Warne. I hated Steve Waugh and Ponting.
In tennis ofcourse Federer but also appreciate Nalbandian, Gasquet, Moya, Srichapan, Suzuki, Phillippousis. I actually also appreciate some aspects of Djokovic like his DTL BH to Nadal's FH specially on clay and Nadal's I/O FH when he flattens it.
In football I love Zidane(my all time fav and GOAT), Pirlo, Modric, Figo. I actually prefer these to Messi almost because Leo doesn't seem to have a lot of time on the ball, ditto for CR7, they seem to be scurrying with the ball. Look at Zidane for example, seems to have so much time on the ball and amazing vision(probably the greatest in this aspect).
Sorry I went on and on about beauty LOL. Taurus ascendants are also hardworking when they feel like it but like the bull we're lazy and don't care how important something is, if we don't feel like working, we'll rest the entire day. But given a day if I feel like working, I'll go the entire day working.

So how does all this combine with each other? Well that's an everyday challenge. My sun and moon are constantly conflict, one like stability, another likes change that's why although I want to travel the world and live in a foreign country I also surprisingly want a government job so that I don't have to learn new things and come up with creative solutions/problem solving(hate doing this). I hate solving problems and thinking on my feet. I also don't like extreme change in my life which is why I've probably delayed marriage as commitment scares me.

According to vedic astrology the mahadasha determines how my life will go. My number is 6(birthday) which means we are lucky and don't have to put in too much effort to achieve something, we get it easier than others in life which is probably why we appreciate talent more than hardwork. Currently I'm running Shani Mahadasha; Shani/Saturn is a malefic planet and is the planet of justice. He loves discipline, hardwork, doing the right thing at all times, helping the poor and facing the reality of life. This 19 year period started last year for me and usually follows Murphy's law - Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong, DELAYS, not getting things easily, hardwork. Saturn is the slowest moving planet and he's the boss of kaliyug and one of most feared planets in vedic astrology. Luckily he's yogkarak for me so it's not as painful as it is for other signs but it is still painful.

There are two astrologers I tend to follow. For predictions(monthly/yearly) - Pandit Prakash Joshi https://www.youtube.com/@Astroaaj/videos
But if you really want to learn more about vedic astrology and understand what the signs mean, the dashas, planets etc I recommend - https://www.youtube.com/@ExoticAstrology/videos

The thread idea is from me, thanks @monfed for responding so quickly and creating this thread.
Let me explain all this: we will undertake the difficult task to bring near astrology to all those interested ones who are open enough not to dismiss that something could be in the higher realms which is practical and so true at the same time. We will present you that this is not just some superstition and it has some really insightful observations which were gathered in last 5000-6000 years of our civilization.

I am a Taurus Sun, Cancer ascendant, Capricorn Moon person.
As a Taurus I love everything connected to beauty, as my ruling planet, the Venus stands for everything connected to physical beauty and being well formed.
Also from the usual Taurean features I am to different degrees hard-headed, down-to-earth, tenacious, reliable, loyal, and sensual. Loyal not to people or even to certain institutions, but first and foremost to my worldview. You cannot convince me of anything if I am not inclined to, though I am a very logical being, so with logic you win every time. I am stubborn to the point that I still have to accept that others' points of view are true and it hurts sometimes. My stubbornness is there yet for a reason: it prevents me from being easily persuaded (and possibly deceived) by others. When in doubt, I simply ask for evidence; I can always change my mind if I truly want to.
"The sing of Taurus corresponds to the neck and the cerebellum which controls the lymphatic system of the physical body.
The sign is represented by the Bull in astrology. Taurus is the positive pole of the earth triplicity, hence it is a forceful and
dominant sign. It should be remembered that people born on the Cusp, namely: the first six days of a sign, partake principally of
the characteristics and impulses of the preceding sign, the one just completed.
Taurus people are naturally endowed with strong mental faculties. It is easy for them to memorize" (Dr. Hanish: Astrological lectures, Taurus)
How true, I never had trouble memorize anything, except poems. My memory works the best by re-flashing past events like a video camera.
I love a wide range of things: classical music (foremost Mozart, Beethoven, Bach, Bartók, Wagner and Rachmaninoff), early Gothic architecture by the Templar building masters (those cathedrals all over France they built), paintings from Rembrandt till the English Pre-Raphaelites / realists in general, royal/monarchical crowns and crown jewels, gymnastics and the human body in its fullest flow.
From the physical aspects though, I am not of that robust appearance and with strong muscles though – not your typical Taurus guy, and the next chapter explains it, why.

Since my ascendant is in Cancer, that means that my Taurean inner self is presented for the world in the shape and characteristics of this sign which is a cardinal sign of the Water trigon, and is ruled by non other mighty entity than the Moon itself, which makes it very feminine. Told you, I am not the usual Taurus, so in this constellation you might not even sense that I am one behind this shell. The rising sign signifies the outside facade/social facade of a person. It's your first impression: what the world thinks of you when they see you and meet you for the first time! Or even beyond, as this shell never really changes (only by drastic means, like deep personal tragedies).
I am a born romantic, a very much closed book to others, appear mysterious: it's impossible to know what's going on in my heart unless I want you to know it.
Being very dramatic, at times melodramatic, I tend to be too sensitive and full of emotions, yet my environment hardly ever notices anything from all this.
It doesn’t matter if a person didn’t even refer to me when making a nasty joke, I will still take it personally. I'm also kind of infamous for having trouble letting go of the past. It’s like I can’t and don’t want to forget what already happened and is long gone. It's really so troublesome to let it go. Of course I know that living in the past won't give me anything in the present or in my future endeavors, but I like to deceit myself from time to time. Plenty of vulnerabilities also here, but I am mostly in control and never let the world know what's inside (only those really close to me).

Finally, my Moon is in Capricorn, which makes me all the more reserved. This is the most difficult to describe as it makes you express your feelings just not the usual spectacular ways like a fiery sign as Leo/Aries/Sagittarius do or being very easy-going like air signs as Aquarius/Gemini/Libra, as love through earth is very slow to get through. The dark side of my personality really lies here, I have had countless hardships in my personal and working relationships as to how I react to things is often a bit misunderstood. My modus operandi is never let anyone stepping too close to me whom I don't trust fully, as I have been burnt in the past to disclose myself to those who were judgey and played the perfectionists. Which I also like to do all the time, as this is the biggest challenge in my life, from the very first day when I really came to my consciousness.
So I was just 11 years old, watching a child fantasy (The NeverEnding story with the part on Nothing) and suddenly understood my calling. Which is very much to make metaphysical things and phenomena more understandable even if it really takes free thinking and an open mind to perceive them.

In the male birth chart, the moon also tells us the type of woman a man would likely marry (notice: the type, not the sign, as mostly there are at least 3-4 most compatible ones to each sign). In the female birth chart, the moon also represents the real feminine inner self of the woman.
In astrology these are the major factors, but of course the main planet (Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune, Pluto) standings are also very important and the so-called major aspects too: conjunctions, sextiles, squares, trines, and oppositions. They all build up the natal chart which gives a complete analysis of a person's whole personality, from the outer features to innermost qualities, from social life to hobbies and business routines.

Astra inclinant, non determinant: The stars incline us, they do not determine us (from non other, but the great Tycho Brahe, astronomer and alchemist at the court of Rudolf II). Whoever understands this wonderful saying in its true entirety will also truly get astrology's core teachings.

Taurus sun!! Vrishabh! That is wonderful. Taurus men make wonderful husbands and are amazing friends. They have great taste btw, I would love to explore cuisines and other things with them. I had a Taurean friend back in Charlotte, I miss him. Very stubborn though like omg you can't be moved! I tried in so many different ways for him to watch GOT and other TV shows but he just wouldn't budge.:D Taurean stubborness is legendary. I got a taste of different types of world music from my friend.

Capricorn in moon means you're makar rashi. This is one sign I don't quite understand. More on makar rashi here - Capricorn Moon Sign: Makar Rashi Symbol, Characteristics and Personality Traits

You're kark lagna, tender and sweet. Moody and a bit distant. More on Kark lagna -Cancer Ascendant - People Born with Cancer Ascendant and Their Traits

I'll try to post about my understanding and insights about your nature and characteristics more in detail in a future post. Thanks for posting!

What I don't get about Astrology is why is the time I came out of the womb the deciding factor?

Shouldn't you rather consider the stars as the time of conception, like when my mom and dad had too much vodka and boned in a dark alley without protection?

I'm pretty sure I would be the same person if the docs got me out of that womb a bit earlier.

Anyways, I'm born January 14th, make of this what you will

It's not, stop using words you don't understand.
This thread is not for debating how astrology is pseudoscience or to prove that it is science. I guess Kepler and Brache were just charlatans when they calculated many astrological charts and served only Mammoth through their service to their respective lords.
Anyways, it's a science enough to have a coherent system which can be challenged within its rules. Those who wanna play outside its rules, may find it mysterious and irrational.

For some reason this reminds me of a Tales Of The Darkside episode about a tarot card reader who only gave positive readings until she gets slipped a cursed deck by another reader in the guise of an old woman. The deck is cursed in part because her readings were never honest in the first place.

You're a Capricorn so your scepticism towards astrology is understandable. Capricorn suns are the most hardworking people in the zodiac. If they set their eyes on a task they wont stop till they complete. They could sit at a problem for days, it's almost a pride thing with them. Capris are also very very loving and caring towards their parents, moreso than any other sunsign. They are also dominating but their domination isn't as manipulative and "cruel" as a Scorpio. Capricorn men are also big time status whores and quite materialistic. They also don't like to be contradicted and are a little manipulative but don't agree that they are. Afterall, to dominate you have to manipulate atleast a little bit but you think it's for someone else's good.

Capris are not very forgiving and dont easily forget. They may even forgive but never forget. My own elder brother is a Capri so that's how I know. Very earthy sign. What's your birthtime?

It's a science that is embedded in vedic scriptures that dates back 1000s of years. What you call science today comes from the vedas. :bigwave:

Give in to your desire to believe astrology, you know you want to.
Actually the advancement of science is when astronomy became separate from astrology. Astrology is junk science today but nonetheless I find it fascinating and often find myself reading my horoscope in those monthly magazines.

I was born on 14th January at exactly 11 pm, to be precice.

And yes, this is all spot on.

My ex girlfriend was a Scorpio, man. I don't even have to tell you how this relationship ended, it was bad. But oh boy, the passion, the sex...
