Sinner also needs to work on the inside-in forehand from the left court. Missed too many of those
Good point, what I also thought was Sinner needs to be able to use that along with the inside in DTL FH. There were a fair few points where Sinner did that and Alcaraz's defense on sliding forehand drew errors.

My thoughts from the other thread:

Really liked that slice backhand from Alcaraz to the Sinner backhand low, drew a lot of errors and set up shots

Sinner must develop a slice

Sinner also needs to work on the inside-in forehand from the left court. Missed too many of those

He has a very good forehand cross and line from the right court, as well as the forehand inside out from the left

But the forehand inside-in needs work

Sinner looked a little bothered physically in the 2nd half of third and fourth

But that is what happens when Alcaraz is landing such body blows
wait a minute, I read that wrong as "inside out"

In that case we're saying the exact same thing

it’s interesting that he didn’t mention any injury or found any other excuses - fully focused on improvement as it should be.

but still something was off in this match outside of play style and serving, it’s just not like him to make all those UEs

maybe he was trying too hard to do something different already now?

Let's respect Sinner. He has autism and did well in both RG and Wimbly. Although some shady tactics sometimes (but nothing more than Nadal or Djokovic tbf).

If Sinner grows a beard and speaks more German, I will decide to lower the frequency of the jabs I throw at him (it's ultimately for fun; he is too good, you want to see him challenged). I listened to him speaking German the other day. He sounded cooler than him speaking in English or Italian. A beard and a fresh cut might do wonders, though. He would gain more fans. Or if he starts to curse out of nowhere, too. That would be interesting lol

After the battle in RG, it's hard not to respect his willingness to win. That must be said. Great season for him regardless.

Whether Sinner was subpar or not is irrelevant. You don't lose 7 of the last 8 meetings to someone unless there's something larger at play than having a "bad day". If Sinner was playing anyone else in the Final other than Alcaraz, he would have defended his US Open title and people would be anointing him the new Hardcourt King. It was amazing Alcaraz who spoiled the Sinner party, not Sinner himself.

For years Alcaraz made a name for himself with his out-of-this-world ground game and athleticism. But an average serve was holding him back from even greater accomplishments. Losing Wimbledon was probably the best thing that ever happened to Carlos as it lit a fire under his ass to improve his serve. Now that Sinner no longer has the benefit of facing Crap-Serve Carlos, fixing the H2H is going to be even more challenging. And with Jannik and Carlos continuing to push each other to improve, my condolences to the rest of the tour.

Yes, this didn't look or feel right. You need to want to win badly and give your all. If you do, you will be disappointed to have lost. It didn't feel like he was disappointed at all.
That's the most concerning part. Sinner has lost 7 of the last 8 matches to this little dude. And he's smiling and laughing? A real ATG that wants to be GOAT would be putting holes through a wall after dropping that many matches in a row especially on hards.

You wouldn't see the Big 3 out there laughing and joking after that, that's for sure.

Ivanisevic would be a good serve coach for Sinner given their similar heights. I think I read earlier this year that Sinner used Isner's serve as the foundation for his serve, and that's obviously not working out given Isner's incredible height advantage over Sinner and Sinner's issues with serving this year. There are things Isner can get away with that mere mortals simply can't.
I won’t be surprised Carlos still pull it off despite Sinner improved his serve to 60% through Ivanisevic. Carlos return can improve till insane level still.

He just needs to get a first serve into the service box. All of his losses against Alcaraz this year is because of his serve being non-existent/non-weapon.
Sinner needs Sampras to coach him

The concept that "running" ruins the body in tennis is laughable. Overhitting and hitting shots from awkward positions, serving faster than your body allows, and playing powerful and muscular tennis is way more taxing than running from one corner to another. And Alcaraz is playing extremely taxing tennis, much more taxing than Nadal.
Yeah but Alcaraz is far more balanced of a mover than Nadal

And he weighs far less, so nowhere near the amount of stress

Alcaraz moves and plays closer to Federer than Nadal

People just get confused with the fist pumping and the sleeveless shirts and the vamos

Congrats Alcaraz!!! 6th slam and now goes 2,2 & 2 in 3 different slams.

Will be itching now to complete the set of slam titles in January at the Australian Open and then might be a unstoppable force to complete the NCYGS.. Who knows?

As for Sinner.. he ended up winning 1 game more than Djokovic did against Alcaraz (13>12)... Sheesh!
