Check this btw, insane similarity. View attachment 433799
Djokovic had a break in the third set. Had even a double-break point. Had 3 consecutive BP to serve for the third set at 4-4

Not comparable. Djokovic gave up mentally at the fourth set while Sinner stayed close until the end, saving 2 MP. I think if Sinner broke back, maybe he would have won the match.

I hope we just don't get another season of this. Hopefully Fils, Fonseca or someone puts a monkey wrench into these slam finals. These Alcaraz/Sinner matches are awful. Its either Alcaraz doesn't capitalize on Sinner's bad 2nd serve, or Sinner hits every first serve wide or into the net all- day. . Its not good tennis for a #1 and #2 player. I think next year, its gonna be important some new players and step up and show improvement.

What's so endearing about him is that, although this is his 6th major, he still acts like a surprised little kid after he wins.

May he never lose that childlike humility and gratitude!

Excellent ambassador for this great sport!

And Jannik was as gracious and generous with his praise as ever.. a true gent and a true friend to Carlitos, much like Roger and Rafa in their day. I truly believe this.

Hurray for Alcaraz! Alcaraz is Making America Great Again!

Outside of RG,their matches so boring.
Rafole played 60 times,at least 50 of them were electric.

I don't know where this thought that Jannik spends more time improving his game while Carlos just relies on his ability came from. Just look at the difference in serves between them here and at RG. It's obvious Carlos has spent a lot of time improving his serve, and Jannik has done jack shit. Mostly because the rest of the tour cant do shit against him anyway so he hasn't bothered. Well, he found out the hard way that constantly having to do 2nd serves against Carlos isn't the path to beating him at slams. I mean in the most of the game, Carlos was getting nearly double the 1st serves in play than Sinner was, and thats with Jannik's height advantage. Loves to talk about always improving, learning and getting better but i havent seen that all tournament apart from against Bubbles. Talk is cheap, if you want to improve how about doing it in games rather than the press conference? I'm saying this because i WANT him to start consistantly being able to win quick service games and get at least around 65% first serves in on them, something he is a long way from doing right now.

Footnote, Carlos absolutely deserved to win, shows he has put more effort into winning the USO than Sinner has since wimbledon and it showed today. Nearly every service game Sinner was fighting to hold it whilst he breezed through his apart from one hiccup in the 2nd set. Enjoy the trophy and the #1 ranking, its deserved. Jannik in future try to spend your time 'improving' on the practice courts and in live games rather than talking about it. Also, try to spend more time getting your great FH more consistent, having a top 30 serve and spend less time practicing dropshots and tweeners, two things you wont ever be better at than Alcaraz anyway. Play to your strengths and improve them.

Congrats to Alcaraz and his fans.

As for MTF and other tennis forums, let's please stop pretending like we have these two young studs figured out. They're young and still evolving; when they're in their late 20s and have settled a bit, then yes, we can say and predict things with more confidence. But for now...

I mean, Carlos just beat Jannik on indoor hardcourt, and beat him comfortably, too. Many of you guys would've said that was impossible. But why would it be?

Sit back and enjoy the continued development of these guys.

I know it has nothing to do with this post but I have to ask: is that The Screenslaver in your avatar?

A high quality match but nowhere near as dramatic as their FO final. I'm afraid we'll now always compare every final to that and nothing will measure up. That was truly the best match I've ever seen.

How much of this result was due to court speed? A lot I'll bet. Ashe is considerably slower this year compared to last, even more so with a closed roof which greatly increases the humidity and makes the balls even heavier, further favoring Alcaraz. I think USTA slowed the stadium courts especially Ashe considerably this year so Alcaraz can win. Number of aces way down even from servebots like Opelka and GMP, both out in R1.
