I knew this match was gonna be tricky as Maroszan was a recent QFer here and he just got deep in Beijing last tournament. That being said Stan started pretty poorly I felt, with only 35% 1st serve and converted only like 50%. Rather than embrace this big opportunity to play in a Masters again he seemingly looked shell shocked IMO like he didn't believe he deserves to be there. Maroszan was pretty aggressive and was clinical on 1st serve throughout the match although I felt everytime Stan chipped returns it just fed Maroszan easy balls to pick off.

1st Set was quick and less than 30 minutes so Stan should still be able to handle 2 more Sets. Stan improved his serving and forced Maroszan to make more errors IMO, giving more confidence to Stan. Got an early lead to 4-1 but knowing Stan he's likely gonna botch it up especially with his body language not looking that positive. Stan barely had much reaction today and the fist pumps and such are scarce and even after winning an important point he didn't scream. Felt like he still wouldn't win the match even when he was advantageous in the 2nd Set.

Got broken but Stan was clutch enough to push it 5-4. Stan then got his chances but again seemingly slow to react in important points. That being said Maroszan was giving DFs which negates Stan's missed opportunities and eventually Maroszan gave Stan the 2nd Set with a UE. Overall Stan was more into the rallies and he did some adjustments like making slices and such and Stan also had a 58% 1st serve in/78% conversion rate.

3rd Set was tight but most were relying on their serve. From what I remember Stan had 30-0 in one game them suddenly Maroszan began returning like a maniac, although I felt Stan still has it in him to just be a bit more alert — got broken after that. Maroszan at *3-2 got down 15-40 but again felt Stan gave easy returns in the next points (some on 2nd serves) and Stan was 0-3 BPs that game. After that it was mostly serve dominant for both players except for that 1 game where Stan almost lost the match in a service game (not surprising for him when he's under pressure of losing IMO) – not as much resistance from Stan as Maroszan served for the match as he did serve + 1s as again Stan didn't pressure Maroszan on retuns as much this Set.

To continue, Stan's game and story is great and sorta unpredictable that's why I follow him, but I do wish he's more expressive to show he does care to win, compared to say Alcaraz who will constantly smile to show "playing tennis is fun" and shows his confidence to win — with Stan you don't know if he's still fighting or giving up the match because there are times he looks like he keeps on playing just to finish the match rather than being in the moment, IMO; he looked more pumped in some of his Challenger matches these recent weeks for all of its worth IMO.

I saw only parts of the 2nd and 3rd sets so can't comment much. Apparently Marozsan breezed through the 1st set. The rest of the way Stan was in there, but again no cigar. He was broken early in the third set and had three BPs to break back a few games later as Marozsan was struggling with his serve and put in a few DFs but unfortunately Stan couldn't take those chances and Marozsan saw it through.

Sad to see a legend falling to a crap player. I have never been a fan of Fábián Marozsán. Don't like his playting style and at 26 in one week he never won one single tournament. Fabian may have a huge followership on MTF but for me he is nothing but a journeyman.

Marozsan is a good player, better than his ranking. He has challenged the elite at times. Wawrinka let a few break point opportunities slip in that third set which would have put him in touching distance of a win... This was far from a good draw with Fritz the next hurdle had he squeezed through. Positive is that this level suggests there is hope of an atp win.
