Good call from Sinner, can't be too careful with a slam around the corner...

No idea what was it, but it was sad to watch. It didn't look like cramps, to be honest.

Sinner started cramping badly in the third set

Griekspoor was down 0-40 at 3-4 in the second set but started GOATing and turned things around, brilliant move to fire Vliegen again

so was it cramps or something else?

Not really impressed with Sinner cramping but whadyagonnado. He pays the price for not closing it in the second set, there were 2 BPs that he missed routine BHs with. Credit to Griekspoor though, he really brought the heat with some clutch serve + ones on the rest.

I think Sinner has Vienna now to play, so points/momentum wise it might not be the end of the world. No idea what his strategy is towards Six Kings Slam. But #1 is sealed for Alcaraz now, that's for sure.

Yep... that ship has sailed.

The perfect withdrawal from Alcaraz. He rests up straight from a title & Sinner bags just 50 points here badly needing to chase.

There will less stress on Carlos now playing the Paris Masters worrying about computations & whatnot & likewise with the ATP finals.

Honest question, though? Why people no use pickle juice? Like if Sinner feels a bit on the edge at end of set 2, why not take some and hopefully prevent cramps?

I've never actually cramped up during any sports I've played (obviously I don't play anywhere near a pro level), sure I've cramped right after, but not during.

Not sure if he felt something at that point already, he looked completely fine in the beginning of the third set and seemingly out of nowhere got hit with the most severe cramps you'll see

Well then, time for Med to win it all.

"I have always had more chances when I have faced Jannik, while Carlos has always beaten me without too many problems. You know what to expect from Sinner, but you can't beat him because he plays his game incredibly well. There is no doubt that he is the best in the world right now, but at the same time he does not have the skills of Alcaraz"

Do yall remember when Tallon got a ton of shit for saying this? There was even a user here laughing about it yesterday. Seems like he was mostly correct, except for the part about Jannik being the best in the world :wavey:

Sascha will win this mess now

I don't think it's just cramping, he obviously twisted his right knee when sliding towards the backhand at 5-4 (15-40) in second set.

RIP the meniscus/cruciate ligament.
yeah I don't think it was the racquet hitting his knee. This was my concern

That said if it was his knee I don't think he would have played up to the 3rd set without any concern or MTO. Not to mention he couldn't take an actual MTO indicates it is very likely to have been cramps (you can't take a timeout for cramping).
