But #1 is sealed for Alcaraz now, that's for sure.
Yep... that ship has sailed.

The perfect withdrawal from Alcaraz. He rests up straight from a title & Sinner bags just 50 points here badly needing to chase.

There will less stress on Carlos now playing the Paris Masters worrying about computations & whatnot & likewise with the ATP finals.

This is not a surprising result. Griekspoor is a multiple slam winner during the 2000s, he is unlucky to play in the tough era.
This trolling is hilarious. I actually wish a ban would solve this, but not enough of a reason for it.

Honest question, though? Why people no use pickle juice? Like if Sinner feels a bit on the edge at end of set 2, why not take some and hopefully prevent cramps?

I've never actually cramped up during any sports I've played (obviously I don't play anywhere near a pro level), sure I've cramped right after, but not during.
Not sure if he felt something at that point already, he looked completely fine in the beginning of the third set and seemingly out of nowhere got hit with the most severe cramps you'll see

but that's my point - you know it's gonna be sweltering, why not "preventatively" take pickle juice on set changeovers. But it's possible it may not work this way, idk exactly how pickle juice works to relieve cramps (I'd imagine sodium / electrolytes)?

These conditions are tough for bodies and endurance like his.
Griekspoor played well since the beginning of the match anyway.
Deserved win.

Sinner's hardcourt streak of reaching the finals ends at 9.

Last time he didn't make it to the final dance was his QF loss to Rublev in Montreal last year.

"I have always had more chances when I have faced Jannik, while Carlos has always beaten me without too many problems. You know what to expect from Sinner, but you can't beat him because he plays his game incredibly well. There is no doubt that he is the best in the world right now, but at the same time he does not have the skills of Alcaraz"

Do yall remember when Tallon got a ton of shit for saying this? There was even a user here laughing about it yesterday. Seems like he was mostly correct, except for the part about Jannik being the best in the world :wavey:

Electrolytes are standard equipment for players and especially in these conditions so he drank that already but it's not a magical solution. Pickle juice is more something you drink after you start cramping as an emergency tool, could've tried it during the changeover at 3-2 but these cramps were so severe it probably wouldn't have helped

Yes with this loss to Griekspoor, here is the race position:

Alcaraz- 11,040
Sinner- 8500

That's a 2540 gap

Even with a Vienna title, a Paris title, and YEC undefeated, he would be only 460 points ahead

So it is not quite locked up for Alcaraz but it is getting closer

TBH, he outplayed Carlos in the 2nd set of their match at Olympix, just choked in the end.

Who knows,he now might give Vienna a miss now & come up with some 11th hour excuse not to show?

Wouldn't be the first time a player has screwed over Vienna ;)

He advanced after Jannik retired from injury. Congrats? And he's beaten Alcaraz before (in a completed match) so no, the statement doesn't hold up.

Vienna can be spared, as can Shanghai

It is clear that Jannik's focus is the 6 Kings Slam
