Moutet's coach: "Sunday, he (Jarry) is f***ed ! He made his own bed. When he comes to Paris, there will be hell waiting"

“The fans (in Santiago) were behaving like a bunch of animals,” Popovic told Tennis Majors. “The worst possible behaviour you can get at a tennis match. It was like football, they insulted Corentin non-stop. They swore at him between points, they booed or whistled as he was about to serve.”
“When (Corentin) went to the toilet after the first set, some fans even threatened him. Then I had to threaten them, so they changed their tune. Really ugly atmosphere to play in, and we basically had two-three members of security, around 65 years old, by us.”

Popovic praised Jarry’s father for trying to calm the situation but criticises the tennis player for failing to ‘step up’ and challenge the behaviour of his home fans. He was also accused of calling Moutet ‘pathetic’ following their clash.

Popovic hopes that the Parisien crowd will give Jarry a taste of his own medicine on Sunday when they play against each other. Their match will be the fourth to be play on the Simonne Mathieu stadium.

“All in all – Sunday, he (Jarry) is fu**ed! He made his own bed.” He said.
“We won that match in Santiago, but we were so disgusted with everything that we even had a conversation: when he comes to Paris, there will be hell waiting. And I really hope that the hell will await, so that Jarry grows sick of tennis at least for a few weeks.”
“Tennis-wise, it’s a complicated first round, Jarry played really great in Rome (he reached the final, editor’s note), but we’ll see.”

I didn't need much encouragement to tune in for this one anyway, but here it is!

Only die hard tennis fans know about the match in Santiago, and even if french newspapers like L'Equipe mention it in a preview, few people will have read this.

So nobody in France cares about some kind of revenge for Moutet. The spectators will just behave like the usual chauvinist mob.
French crowd can get pretty bad, I've seen Vacherot-Debru RG quali match and it was a big mess. Vacherot was pissed, the crowd also booed him when he sent the ball into them after his win.

The crowd of Medjedovic-Pouille was also wild after the rain roof restart (booing Medjedovic as he was out on the court, constant hindrance) but Hamad didn't really mind them and the crowd was too impressed by his level so they couldn't boo at the end :rotfl:

This Popovic is such a horrible person. Not a surprise he is with Moutet. Remember him when he was coach of Petkovic...:help:

Great one to watch then. Hopefully their court has a roof.

Maybe he is a bit to passionate, but he is also a great coach. Both Karlovic and Krajinovic did great improvement under him.

Always wanted him with Grigor. No surprise Moutet is raising the ranking with such good coach.

I was oblivious of their previous match LMAO. Well, at least we'll be due for a heated first rounder then. I'll support the Frenchmen only because I can't stand Jarry. He acts like he's some sort of legend or something and expects certain level of treatment at every tournament.

Jarry has it coming. Dopers deserve that kind of crowd.
