Even if he'd beaten Vacherot and then Rinderknech, it would have been one of the weakest 1000 wins in recent history, regardless of Oldovic's age.

The truth is that Novak's last big career hurrah was the Olympics.
It would have been THE weakest win in all Masters history. Or can you come up with an example that could even come close to that (no opponent from the top 40)? Luckily, Vacherot ended this, and he, of course, had a reasonably strong path to the win beating numbers 5, 11, 17 and 23.
 
For me, the Olympics seems like Novak's greatest win.
Nobody would have blamed him for retiring after that.
But, who are we, to question his motives now? :dunno:
