they are like (over)a quarter of the world population, yet

Brandon Nakashima
Learner Tien
Kei Nishikori

are the only (east) Asians that are ranked within the Top 100.

I mean, they are usually pretty good in other sports that involve hand-eye coordination, which includes badminton and table tennis.

yes but Carlos is just one man. was Nishikori 2014 less of a player than lets say Rublev, Berrettini,Ruud, Musetti, Fritz or Tsitsipas? I couldnt see only Carlos, Jannik and Medvedev as a clear cut from him (and Medvedev of 2019-2022, not of this year which is a strong declined version). Even Zverev would be not a clear cut due to how inconsistent he has been level-wise, specially in slams.

You cant tell me Alex Deminaur let Alone Cam Norrie are better players than Kei at his peak...

They are dominating Badminton and Tabletennis, especially on the women's side. Also on WTA, there are 9 chinese players in Top 150.

Interesting question. Generally, the problem is lack of fitness. Top Asian players are actually solid shotmakers from both wings and can play like a top-20 player on any day. However, they are too injury prone to stay consistent enough, hence being underranked. Movement is also a part of it.
For guys like Nishikori and Tien, they also lack height and hence lack a solid serve.
