Thought it would be a Korda 5 set win with Korda being helped by the Louis Armstrong crowd and also boosted by his Washington win. I do rate Machac but losing in straight sets is a really poor result. Not done anything since the AO run last year.

 

Many matches that seemed balanced on paper went more or less uncontested.

Korda can always be relied upon to flop in slams. He's only built for weal ATP events.

With Hubert out and De Minaur just out of injury, Alcaraz has a cakewalk until the Semi-Finals and then he meets a huge challenge in Sinner.

 

I think ADM can put up a fight on a low bouncing med-fast HC. Might have drawn the 2nd trickiest QF opponent after Medvedev, but like you've mentioned that's assuming ADM is healthy.

Machac is a great talented player. Still, I don't see him in a Slam semifinal soon.

Korda is just NOT TO BELIEVE anymore.

 

We could have a rematch of the first round of Wimbledon here goffin against Machac. With hopefully a win for goffin now. In straight sets please. But first he has to win his second match. Which is on at the moment of this point. Of writing this.

 

Machac always has chances against the Top 15-25 range I think but Korda not taking advantage of his form this US Open series is very disappointing IMO.

 

Korda is overranked. Top 30 maybe. But he has no business inside the top 15. He's been lucky to get points in North American tournaments where a lot of players where missing after Wimbledon/Olympics.
He's basic. Just beat Moutet on hard, which is easy. Got routined by PCB and Machac in his last two tournaments.

Very weak showing by Korda today. Do we know if he is actually injured like they were speculating on espn during the match? Machac definitely is talented so this not that big of an upset at all.

 

Korda shouldn't be mentioned anymore as potential future American GS winner until his consistency is proven. If he was a presidential candidate, he be nickname low energy Korda.
