Djokovic's experience and mental toughness in deciding sets have prevailed once again. Munar just isn't mentally tough enough to beat Djokovic in 3 sets. Despite of physical issues after 2nd set, the Serb handled the pressure well and played it out. Bergs next.

Another record by the way: he's now the oldest quarterfinalist at Masters 1000 event ever. When he stops wit that?

Djokovic played well in sets 1 & 3, but couldn't get to a TB in 2nd one (kind of a choke at the end of it).
The physical issues are concerning at this stage... Rune will be a much harder test. The real final probably

Griekspoor might already be a monumental test if he gets through Vacherot.

Some stellar play by Djoker in the third set. Delivered when it mattered most.

He seemed hampered though. He’ll get a day off, but if the ankle doesn’t improve, it wouldn’t be a surprise if he skips the QF. On paper he could’ve faced a tougher opponent than Bergs though.

didn't watch, what was with the ankle?

Munar must be ruing that missed smash when he was up 40-15 at the first game of the third with the momentum with him. At last a missed smash turns a match in favor of Djokovic of a change.

The grit and determination from Novak under these conditions is nothing short of impressive. He played a near perfect third set, and was hitting the crap out of the ball from both wings, reminiscent of the kind of tennis he played at AO 2023, which was the most entertaining version of him.

Every player that goes deep here will have physical troubles in weeks to come. And Djokovic is already in trouble: Sickness, humidity and leg issue combined will take their toll. Would not be surprised if he cancels the next match. Might just be the best thing to do since it is not getting better from here on. But maybe he will play and that would be good for tournament and competition since having a W/O at this stage is a huge advantage for the player who gets it (Bergs).

There is no logical reason to do this for nole , there won't be a better chance of winning masters title than this , bergs in qf , I think he will get griekspoor in sf and probably Medvedev in final so no need to w/o he can win this tournament and skip the rest of the season ( or play atp finals)

De Munar played at the level that would have won him 10+ Slams during the 2000s, and injured Djokovic still won.
I have no words for Novak. The most amazing sportsman ever. What a GOAT, what a beast, what a CHARACTER.
I almost had a heart attack when he injured himself at the start of the match. I will pray for Novak today and tomorrow.
I cannot imagine tennis without him :sobbing::sobbing::sobbing:

Djokovic can still beat field players in multi set matches. Will likely still beat players like ADM. Usually you would expect the 38 year old to falter first as the match goes on but Djokovic's base level is still too good for them.

congratulations novak for the Oscar win 🏆

he used to be a renowned comedy actor but in the last few years he made a name for himself in drama 🎭 #goat

the GOAT of fake injury

i didn’t know that genuinely injured players fall to the ground like they just won a slam after sending a forehand wide to lose a set 🤷🏻‍♂️

Djokovic is a vegan and one of the reasons could be to better manage his health problems. He often suffers from a drop of his blood sugar level and fatigue. This is nothing new. Even when he was very young he struggled in hot humid conditions and avoided countries with such conditions. New York and Cincinnati were usually tough on him.

3 sets to beat Munar, whose like 21-30 this year. I watched the 1st 5 games. He called for medics twice. He has better things to do with his time, right? Because that's time wasted Im not getting back, old man

Sorry, I know most players take medical timeouts but the levels Djoker has taken it to in just about every match this year is ridiculous. If you are struggling that much in the course of a match, dont bother

Why is there no heat rule in those conditions. They should allow players to cool down after sets. Are ATP waiting for someone to collapse before they intervene. The temperature alone is not enough as a guiding metric here. Humidity on top compounds the issue, and when several players have been complaining, some measure need to be taken.
