@Saraya! It's Learner, not Leaner. Since you also wrote "Leaner" in one of your posts, I think it's not a typo.

And finally Medvedev has scored his first win over the new Nadal! He served for the match in his previous teo attempts as well, but somehow couldn't get the job done. Defends his QF points from last year, but he'll surely be the cleat underdog against De Minor. Last year it would've been the other way around.
Lots to be proud of for the new Nadal as well. Making a final of an ATP 500 tournament and backing it by winning 3 consecutive matches in a Masters tournament the following week (as well as giving a tough time to his 4th round opponent) is pretty impressive for a teenager in his first complete year on tour. In comparison, another player from the same generation who's considered by some MTF experts as the next GOAT level player has done neither so far in his career.

Well that's not true. Medvedev has played against Nadal 9 times, 6 times against OrigiNadal and thrice against the new Nadal. He has one win over each so far.

Vulturdev smells another opportunity to "stab" the GOAT so that he will peak out of his mind. He is fueled by the motivation to deny the outstanding achievements of Orthodox Christians

Learner is solid. Can be a mainstay top 20 player. Not sure if he has the extra power or gear for grand slams

Lefty Nishikori?
More like lefty Michael Chang, bases game off infinite stamina, consistent rallying and good ROS. Nishikori always had a stronger attack instinct but also took longer to overcome injuries and develop his game, I'd say Shang is much more likely to be the lefty Nishikori of this generation.

Yes, Tien clearly has better results than the extremely overrated Fonseca, but they're still early in their development, and we'll see who has the upper hand in a few years.

Medvedev gave a fair amount of credit to Tien, saying that the games of most players these days is founded on trying to hit as hard as possible behind a solid serve... The quintessential power baseline game of this era... But that Tien doesn't possess a big serve, but is still competitive with his good court craftiness. Indeed a relatively high IQ player. Changes up the balls constantly. Let's see if he can improve his serve. The height may be a limitation though, but we'll see.

Excellent retrievers both of them, boring as fuck. Saw the highlights and even these were boring, nobody is waiting for 50 stoke rally between 2 players that do not have the power to hit winners. New Wilander-Vilas matchup. Medvedev is just a diva without the looks, can wait until this bum retires.

Sad for Tien. Thought he was going to beat Med once again when he won the 2nd set. Still it was a great few weeks in China for Tien, whose ranking has risen by about 20 spots over the last three weeks. I think he has a good chance of finishing the season in the top 30.

see more similarities between Tien’s game and Nishikori’s than between Tien’s and Nadal’s, except for their arm preference. Both are excellent movers who take the ball early and stay close to the baseline most of the time. They’re also good at redirecting pace. Like Nishikori, Tien has a calm personality and rarely loses focus or breaks down mentally. Both players seem to enjoy long matches and tend to win most of their deciding sets. They share a weakness, too — their serves are not particularly strong. However, Tien appears to have a more durable physique. I believe he’ll break into the top 10 within a year or so. Top 5? That’s harder to predict at this stage, as he still needs to improve his serve.

Nadal outright cheated all the time, not just there. But he’s retired. Best to focus on observing the rules now.
Nadal only "cheated" cuz he was allowed to do that by getting away with it

The fault is on the umpires for not enforcing the rules to him and being more strict, otherwise he wouldn't be holding players up as much as he did or he'd be losing points by doing that

Every once in a while it can and should not be enforced, esp after a very long point to give both players some extra time to recover, but not as often as he was being let off the hook.

If I was Medvedev I would have expressed my frustration about that more during those matches in the moment if it bothered him that much

That’s true. But it’s kind of like arguing «my friend didn’t get a parking ticket when he parked here so I don’t want one either»

Nadal cheating the system out of 50 000 deserved time violations does not mean everyone should be let off the hook.
Honestly the judge might have let it go. Tien still served before the clock ran out (4 seconds left, I think) He didn't have to give him warning.

Well the Brazilian GOAT already won Laver this year. No need to overplay mickey mouse events like Shanghai. You will see his best version in 2026
