Who is the most toe-curlingly annoying?

For me it has to be a toss-up between tosspots Andrew Castle and John Inverdale.

Pat Cash is a gruesome analyst. You wouldn't think the guy actually used to play the sport.

Sue Barker - desperate rough old slut who slimes over male players in a manner that would surely get her fired if she were a male commenting on females.

Andrew Castle - smug fucker who feels the need to remind us of the rules every 5 minutes because he assumes that everyone watches as little tennis as he does.

Greg Rusedski - this guy has the most bizarre voice I've ever heard. Not only is it nasal and in a dreadful accent but his tones and inflections never bear any relation to what he's actually saying. just very puzzling.

Becker - this guy is surely the cheesiest German of them all. He makes me cringe every time he opens his mouth.

Inverdale - don't really mind him because he's so completely and utterly clueless that it's generally amusing.

Agree with most of these

Becker amuses me when he tries to bring out the English phrases and says them incorrectly. I find him quite funny. Inverdale isn't a fountain of tennis knowledge, but as a presenter I think he's ok.

Most of them do because of the totally self-absorbed way in which they speak about Wimbledon as some all-important event that every player wants to play, and win at, and rarely bother to put the event in the context of the rest of the tennis year. This is worst among the part-timers like Inverdale, Barker and Castle. People like Petch and Mercer who watch tennis the other 10 months of the year aren't too bad.

Shock Horror for some of them, but there are players out there who don't like Wimbledon, who are indifferent to it, and generally don't give a damn.

Don't get me wrong, I love my home slam, but it's not the be-all and end-all.

They are clowns then. :)

It's not the be-all end-all anymore because they killed it slowing the surface. It was, though.

Castle-Absolute clown, nuff' said.

Rusedski-Brings Nadal into every discussion not even relating to who will win wimby, and always brings up the fact that he thinks nadal is going to win.

Rusedski gets on my nerves.

His commentary consists of two elements.

1) "I'd like to see <player x> do <action y> a little more, I think it would be more effective on the grass and give the opponent something different to look at.

2) "<player x> has a great <shot y> and is so solid with that, and that's why he's <ranking z> in the world right now.

Repeat for 2 hours.

Everyone knows my hatred for the bbc i really cant stand them-what really annoys me is everytime they interview Becker,Mcenroe,Austin etc they have to harp on about the british talent every fucking day- they start of at 12.00 this week and talk for the first hour about complete bullshit instead of showing the tennis from the outside courts- thank god for the interactive button.

Also they go on about how great tennis is and pro it up but as soon as Wimbledon is over they show bugger all tennis unless its some shit davis cup match or queens e.g anything that involves the uk, when the British davis cup gets beat up good style they then say oh but didnt they try hard! instead of saying what a load of crap that was :)

and no i;m not anti english just anti bbc, look at sky sports they show tennis from all around the world and are happy not to have british involvement

Obviously the worst has to be Andrew Castle who knows bugger all about tennis unless its a top 10 player- you should of heard him on the Tipsarevic/Roddick match- it was very obvious he knows bugger all about tipsy but yet has the cheek to commentate on it

Just Murray now so at least they can't be hyping up the others and saying how impressive it was that they lost in straight sets to Venus but didn't look like a complete idiot doing so.

We've over that phase of the event for another year, thankfully.

Greg Rusedski. The man is a prick, something that comes across no matter how much he tries to hide it. Henman is already a better commentator and he's done like 3 or 4 matches.

Andrew Castle is a mug too. During the Roddick/Tipsarevic match today he trotted out his standard line of "and you may not have heard of him before" about Tipsarevic, which he says about every player outside the top 10.

Lowest common denominator commentating designed for the tools who tune in for Wimbledon once a year and think tennis is over after that. And they would have been watching Eaton get pummelled anyway.

#15 ·
Oh and also wtf is up with Castles obsession with Nadals arms and body... doesnt he understand we can see for ourselves!

John Lloyd seems an ok guy but another guy that never has anything interesting to say apart from oh he is hitting the ball not deep enough! wow John your knowledge is truly impressive! And more importantly his knowledge of the game is very small

By the way where is Frew Mcmillan this year? i know he is usually eurosport but i'm sure he does wimbledon for BBC when it comes around ever year? unless he no radio 5?

They are using the great chris bradnam but no Frew the only decent Analyst

Interactive is certainly the saving grace of the Beeb coverage - at least I can choose what to watch.

But why the fuck do they schedule "Today at Wimbledon" when play is still continuing? They used to do it at 10:20pm or so, which made much more sense.

I should have included an option for Pat Cash, but could only fit 10 on the poll, and had blissfully blanked him out of my mind at the time.

I've only herd a few snatches of Henman, but he's much better than I thought he'd be.

And (((Frew MacMillan)))
Undisputed master of the stream-of-consciousness style of commentary.

#28 ·
None of the commentators are great but Pat Cash is no where close to being the worst.
BBC's commentating at the French Open wasn't too bad, the coverage in the Monfils/Federer match was top notch. Suddenly at Wimbledon, it's a pile of shit. Someone fire Rusedski.

Andrew Castle And Greg Rusedski. I Hate Them Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo Much.

#29 ·
Greg Rusedski is unbearale. I can't listen to his yabbering voice for more than 10 seconds before my head goes soft. Plus he talks shit.

Becker's annoying because he talks in ridiculous run on sentences that no one gives a shit about. "If he win... the next 4 points... he will win... the game... and the match... and there he is.... picking up his racquets... siging a few ....signatures"

I hate the guy who interviews players in the green room after matches. What a fawning PRICK.

I like Inverdale because he's the only one who knows how to banter with John McEnroe. Also Frew and Barry Davies are dry as fuck. Lighten up!

#42 ·
Agree about Greg, I liked him as a player, but his comentary annoys me a bit. Andrew Castle is the most iritating, as least Mac and Boris achieved success in their career. What the fuck did Castle ever do of any merit? Boris is a ledge! Lloyd speaks much more sense than Castle. Cash and Stich do a good job on Five Live. I always prefed Connors commentary over Mac's.

Oh and I like Barry Davies, he was always one of my fave tennis commentators (much better than Motson at the football too). Barrett is much missed.

#30 ·
Rusedski. Constantly harping on about Nadal and how he "called it" at Queen's... as if he deserves some kind of prize. Plus, he gives handy hints as to how to win a Slam..... as if he ever won one. His face is annoying, not that he can help that..... Much prefer Henman who isnt such a try hard.

#31 ·
Rusdeski and if it was an option david mercer, castle's not that bad.

#33 ·
Greg Rusedski - 2/10
Tim Henman - 6/10
John Lloyd - 7/10
Andrew Castle 0 5/10
Sue Barker - 10/10 :hearts:
John Inverdale - 0/10
Tracy Austin - 9/10
Virginia Wade - 8/10
John McEnroe - 9/10
Boris Becker - 7/10#

Overall, I hate Inverdale. Joykovic

Andrew Castle is beginning to get on my nerves. I just get the feeling that he watches so little tennis all year round... yet he treats the viewers like we watch even less tennis than him!

Boris Becker is the second most who gets on my nerves. The previous years when he came on the BBC team, I first used to dislike his appearances, then he grew on me... but this year is getting on my nerves again. It's like he is sometimes not interested, says the obvious things and seems fake.

Rusedski seems the odd one out... doesnt fit in. It's funny how Greg gets no hype when he comes on but Timmy gets loads of hype.

I like invidale... i like his presenting style.. its a shame that the BBC puts its highlights package on BEFORE the day has ended... what is that about?

oh yeah.. Tracey annoys me.

#38 ·
Becker isn't that bad, he's no where near Castle level.
