Medvedev said a few nasty things to the match official during the match (leading to a loss of a point). It then looked like he said “fuck you” to the official as he walked off court after the match.

He’s alway nasty when he is losing or has lost. Notice how the umps are always trying to calm him even when he played that match agst TsItsi (small kid).

Tien is fun to match while Medvedev is not so I approve of this result. Good to see two teens into the 3rd round here.

Tien may have lost to Fonseca in the Next Gen finals but he outlasted him here in a tournament that actually matters and will overtake him in the rankings.

Kudos to Tien, though. He played absolutely out of his mind towards the end of the match. I hoped Med would win it in 5, but the way Tien played in that last set tiebreak didn't give him many chances.

Last year in the exact round Meddy beat Ruusuvuori at approx 3:40am.

So this will really put him in a good mood once again.

He has declined a lot recently. I remember times when he would have trashed Tien in 3 easily. Sadly, those are already gone.

Tragic.

Simon has completely ruined Medvedev’s game. He looks old, slow and is a pusher. Everything that once made him a great and consistent player is now gone.

I love him, but I hope he retires and doesn’t stick around to collect R2 paychecks. This might be his last season in the top 20, after that he won’t even be top 50.
