Tragic.

Simon has completely ruined Medvedev’s game. He looks old, slow and is a pusher. Everything that once made him a great and consistent player is now gone.

I love him, but I hope he retires and doesn’t stick around to collect R2 paychecks. This might be his last season in the top 20, after that he won’t even be top 50.

humanity won with this one
i think with regards to the overall performance, this was pretty shoddy--certainly in large parts it was shaky. the guy's usually more steady. the thing that impressed me the most is that he was able to recover, one way or another, mentally and physically (fitness should, of course, only get better with time). there were a lot of great points scattered, throughout

Tien is fantastic. He totally deserved the win for being more aggressive. Medvedev's pushing and grunting was annoying. Very impressive that such a young guy, with no notable experience at this level or playing this late into the night or playing this long, actually was able to hang in there. The serve could be improved, but that FH is already world class.

Boy am I glad I got to see Tien train in person at the Vegas CH before this

The rain delay at 2:29 local time :oh:

Medvedev saved one match point in 3rd set tiebreak.
The way he raised his level in the last possible moment was outstanding.

His groundstrokes are just miles away from Sinner or Alcaraz, but serve, mentality, defense and strategy holding together a house of cards which was folding today.

Tien played good, very good in times. The composure was excellent for a young player. Hr is brave, has great tactics and will be the strongest left-handed player in the future.

Next up for Tien is Moutet. This will be fun.

Also, it's funny seeing Medvedev hitting ball from the middle of court and then running back towards baseline.
Well, when you watch his volleys, it almost makes sense.

He hit one such a terrible volley in the super TB...
