There you go, if anyone wondered why the top players participate in about 5 of these and go all out.

Carlos Alcaraz is guaranteed to top the 2025 ATP 500 Bonus Pool, claiming at least $1 million in addition to the prize money he has already earned from those events.

Two ATP 500 events, in Basel and Vienna, remain this season. But by lifting the trophy in Tokyo, Alcaraz guaranteed that he will finish the season atop the list.

The Spaniard has earned 1,930 PIF ATP Rankings points at ATP 500 events this season, winning titles in Rotterdam, Queen’s Club and Tokyo. He also reached the final in Barcelona and the quarter-finals in Doha.

Players have an opportunity to claim a share of $3 million in the ATP 500 Bonus Pool, which will be distributed among the top six players in the standings subject to participation. To be fully eligible, a player must compete in five ATP 500 events throughout the 2025 season and fulfill swing commitments.

Would there be a Fed award for shitting on Djokovic in all 4 slams in a year?

Doesn't matter, no amount of money is worth risking your health and overplaying, and as a result he got injured and now a big question mark for the rest of the year.

If it was a lower ranked player outside the top 5 then the 1m may have been worth it, but not for someone like Alcaraz who makes that from just 1 appearance fee at a 500 event, apart from all his other endorsements - 1m is only a fraction of that.

He didn't get injured "as a result of overplaying" but as a result of simply playing/being on the court. Hazards of the trade. An accident that could've only been avoided by not playing at all. I.e. an injury that can occur simply when you play tennis and hustle to get to balls. Similar to Zverev in 2022.

I hope Carlos has talked to Rafa about money managers. I am more than certain that he and JuanQui have had plenty of meetings w the Nadal team,

Rafa's Uncle Rafael Nadal2 (not grandpa Rafael who was a musician & composer) had a degree in in business & finance. RafaElDos had a full time career as manager of Rafa's real estate investments, endorsement deals, etc. In this sense Rafa was unbelievaby lucky, He had an uncle to coach him (Toni) an uncle who had been a pro futbol player (MiguelAngel "the Beast of Barcelona") to warn him about the dangers of golddiggers. Rafa met his dream woman Merry when he was 16 and she was 14 and introduced to him by his sister Maribel. His now wife Maria came from a solid Mallorcan family who had a business restoring stone buildings, How lucky can one guy get. All that prodigious talent, all those prime athlete genetics, and a family to handle his money that he could trust would not rip him off. He might have had a bad foot, but everything else seemed to work out OK.🏆

Alcaraz is also the current leader for the MS1000 bonus (which is of course a bigger bonus than the 500 one). In a good position to get the max haul from that one too.

AI Overview

Yes, most top-ranked ATP players must participate in four ATP 500 tournaments as part of their mandatory commitments, including at least one event after the US Open, to count those points toward their world ranking. Players who don't fulfill these requirements or opt out of these tournaments will receive a "zero" score for the events they miss, which negatively impacts their ranking.

What is the fine for playing 0 ATP 500 tournaments? Is there also a fine for playing less than 3?
There are no fines, making things up.
Apologies. I mixed it with this which is for ATP Finals only.

Being accused of making things up though is a bit insulting, del pelican. I will remember this next time you make the slightest slip.
