He was just put on the spot:

“I was too shy to say it but my favourite player is Raducanu,” he said in the press conference after the Courier interview. “I watched her first round match, it’s so good to see her back. I was afraid of the reaction from the public. I am shy with girls.”
Has a big crush on her. Wanted to mention her name, but then realized that the crowd would know why (i.e., not for tennis skills but for cuteness) :D.

Love Carlito ..... he should ask Emma out!

No big deal. Even Serena Williams said that women's tennis and men's tennis are two completely different sports. Alcaraz is watching other players to study them and to scout them.

The guy probably trains 4+ hours per day, has to eat, rest, etc. I doubt he's just sitting around watching hours of women's tennis, that don't really impact him.

So, he has a good friend on WTA but then completely forgets about her and also forgets about every other player on women's side? I can understand to have a brain freeze when speaking foreign language, but this was just names (which are same in any language).
Well, yeah - he was clearly anxious. This kind of thing can happen when someone is speaking their first language. The point about the press conference environment as compared to the on-court interview was also (obviously) valid.

Alcaraz had been asked by Jim Courier who he likes to watch and he said Medvedev, Djokovic, and Sinner, because they always bring the intensity. When asked about his favorite WTA players to watch, he couldn't name one. Bro was sweating!

Hilarious on-court interview with the crowd laughing along:

Great, I just became a fan!

Tbh, the running joke was that he was commenting on Swiatek posts and she only had eyes (and comments) for Nadal.

Carlitos might already be scarred at a young age.

Way to miss completely what happened and turn yourself into a victim. That one was kinda tricky to pull off here.
That's usually how it works for Djokovic in mainstream Western media. This kind of situations are completely twisted out of proportion and given a new narrative (always a very negative narrative).
On the other hand, with media darlings like Fedal or Alcaraz situation is completely opposite - everything is portrayed in a very positive way. Far from it that this situation with Alcaraz is some cover up by media, but I'm just saying what's the general modus operandi by mainstream media.

He's literally the new pin-up for MSM far left media and the Nike/Rolex darling - dude will get away with anything much like NAdal did for 20 years
Go outside and touch some grass. It’s tennis. You sound like you are on some serious weed when you said he’s a “new pin-up for MSM far left media”. You are just throwing words together to try to sound smart

yah. someone should've told karl lametek is a massive wafatard.

"Can't name" or "doesn't want to name"?! Two very different meanings.

The fact that people on here aren't smart enough to recognise the beyond painfully obvious reason as to why he didn't want to name a WTA player is hilarious. "Can't name"??? :smash: :ROFLMAO:

Like what? Lol
Do you have a point? Attempting to mock my very sensible point only makes you look stupid. It is a statement of fact that there are many amazing WTA players with lots of experience. A tennis player who is serious about their craft should be watching men AND women and learning from everybody, not just watching the top men.

This was not cute. There are so many amazing players on the WTA tour, and he could learn something from watching them. The idea that high-level tennis can only be found on the men's side is so dumb. In fact, I would rather watch the average WTA match than the average ATP match. On average, a match between the world no. 41 and the world no. 75 on the WTA side would be more interesting than a match between the world no. 41 and the world no. 75 on the ATP side.
However it's also true that on average, a match between the ATP #5 and ATP #10 would be more interesting than a match between the WTA #5 and WTA #10.
