Some i assume bored people seek to make mickey mouse events like Dubai and Acapulco significant by saying world no.1 spot is on line.

Reality is only world no1 position that is relevant is who is no.1 at seasons end.

It will be Nadal or Djokovic clearly. Both so far ahead of the rest its funny now.

Nadal is not even trying in Acapulco and he is destroying opponents.

Djokovic is trying harder it seems but he is hardly breaking sweat either.

Poor federer fans must be in utter turmoil.

If you speak of YE#1 you gotta look at the race: Nadal is currently 8th.
So no, he is not ahead of the rest, he's behind 7 other players.

Nadal got it in 2017 when Nole was absent and then got the computer #1 last year but 2018 was Nole.

8th in the race, huh? Wow at this rate it's a question of whether he'll even qualify for the WTF :O
Not that it matters...he never could win it

nobody really refers to 2018 as Nole's year, he vultured it with Nadal out since the US Open semifinal

We know how it is all going to play out

Djokovic with lead before clay

Rafa leads after clay

Very very close Wimbledon through USO

Photo finish

I agree YE #1 is very important because they all have 5 YE #1. But week by week is also important. Djoko wants to get Fed's 311 record. For Rafa for sure YE #1 is more important, as well as a YEC, to argue 6 YE #1 makes up for only like 250 or whatever Rafa would end up with, and fill all resume holes.

So every match counts.

Thats fine so long as he ends no.1. Like last year Nadal got the job done as he is likely to do again.

I know it hurts like hell but alas Nadal is current YE1 holder..i.e current world champion. Hehehe. Oh being a Nadal fan is so perfect. Im watching USO 2019 again. So pleasurable. Hahahaha

Rafa looks fine on course. ATP Cup and the upcoming Acapulco title have him at basically the same amount of points like last year before Indian Wells despite losing two rounds earlier in Melbourne. And he only did because he got Thiem so early. Could have been Sandgren too or another 3-4 fellas he would have defeated easily. If he wins Monte Carlo (or Madrid), he has more points already than Monte Carlo, Madrid and Barcelona 2019 together. US Open title defense could get a bit tough, but until then Novak will have a hard time reaching the RG semis again and also defending Wimbledon. All good in Rafaland right now. If his body holds up, he'll end 2020 as number 1.

Thiem is Nadals biggest threat at USO and fO. Nadal or Thiem would have won USO 2018 had they not met each other. Thiem probably wins AO this year but for another war with Rafa.

Djokovic will deteriorate again through summer as he often has

Well except Djokovic's entire goal is to break Federer's weeks at #1 record, which looks inevitable at this point. He's likely only going to keep gaining on Nadal over the next few months.

Its icing on the cake. Djokovic like Nadal wants a 6th YE1. Obviously to do that its more likely if they both keep winning. Expect no.1 ranking to swap and change all year.

This is going to be on of those rare years where top 2 keep swapping. Last time was Sampras and Courier in 1993.
