Wesley Moodie of South Africa defeated eighth-seeded Philipp Kohlschreiber of Germany 6-4, 7-6 (2) Tuesday in the first round of the Vietnam Open. Seventh-seeded Lars Burgsmuller of Germany also advanced at the ATP event, the first international tennis tournament in Vietnam. Burgsmuller downed Denmark's Kristian Pless 6-3, 6-7 (8), 6-2.
