These two have never played one another. Both players are struggling this season for form. Dodig defeated Kamke in a third set tiebreak on Wednesday and based on a report from a poster on this forum, it was a high quality match. Overall, Dodig is 6-9 this season with two wins over quality opponents. Funky Flo Mayer is 2-6 this season and has had questions surrounding his fitness, but he has a good career record in Miami, beating Karlovic and Almagro here last season before losing in a third set breaker to Berdych in R4.

If Flo loses here, he'll be out of the top 20. I can't see Mayer losing unless he's not 100%. Dodig doesn't have the weaponry to hurt Flo from the back of the court and Mayer definitely has the weapons to outwit and breakdown Dodig's game, plus given the fact his return is one of the main strengths of his game, it will neutralize Dodig's strength, which is his serve. If the German is playing well and is motivated, he wins in straights. If not, things could get interesting.
