WWW Credit Suisse Sports Awards? (Swiss sports awards)

I open this thread mostly because of Stan and Roger. Awards ceremony on Sunday. Nominated male athletes here:

http://sports-awards.ch/de/nominierte/sportler/

Obiously Dario Cologna is the two tennis players' main rival. As a double Olympic champ, I rank him above Roger who didn't win any slams, despite that Roger was winning the DC for his country. But Stan should get this, he won a slam and was winning the DC for his country.

Stan deserves the win just for his overall 2014. Federer will win it just because of popularity...unfortunately. Good PR for the country anytime Roger wins an award.
Must be Stan this year. Dario won it last year, though he gets a great chance with double olympia (and this is normally honoured with that award).

But if not this year, Stan never will win it.

Roger has no chance here. Probably he could be with Stan the best team, but ice hockey (if I'm well informed) and the FC Basel have very good chances too to get the team award. However, Davis Cup was the most wanted trophy, which was realistic to garner it, this year for sure for the Swiss. So Stan should at least gets one accolade on Sunday.

Don't think so. In past Federer didn't win this award multiple times when he had much more acheivements (still don't understand how he didn't win it in 2005 for example). It should be between Stan and Cologna

Swiss crowd got annoyed to see Roger winning another award
^yeah, they promoted Luthi (motorbiker) after Federer won between journalists, the same thing happened in 2009 against Cuche. Argument with Federer's popularity in Switzerland...

Seems like the other nominated teams are women's hockey (Olympic bronze) and some bobsleigh team (I guess Olympic gold or some medal). Sure the DC should be the best Swiss team effort of 2014.

And Uncle Severin not among the nominated coaches. :smash:
The Davis Cup winning quartet are the Team of the Year!
1st Federer 2nd Cologna, 3rd Wawrinka disgusting
swap Federer and Wawrinka and it would be ok. Maybe Swiss people feel pity for Roger when they denied him the award in 2005 so they voted for him now
I feel that went quite the opposite way to how women's award went. Dominique Gisin got the award. Her season was Cilic-like, won downhill Olympic gold (like winning a slam) but didn't do much otherwise. Another Alpine skier Lara Gut had a Federer-like season. Won races, won the super-G World Cup title and was third in the overall World Cup. But didn't win the award.

But any problem cannot be found?
LOL hilarious. Stan will never win this award. Because dumb people are dumb, simple as that.

He would have really deserved at least a nomination even though he is probably the last person who cares about something like this.

I didn't expect this outcome of the evening either. Even when it was announced that Stan was 3rd I still thought that Cologna would be first...

It's very difficult to compare the achievements of athletes.
Like people already wrote in here Roger didn't won the Award a few times when it was more likely he would get them.

He is the most successful Swiss athlete now with 6 individual titles.
Vreni Schneider has 5 ones.
