Can't recall the score but it was in four sets. Great match by Denis. He was sooo happy.

This guy is so clutch. Fear is not in his vocabulary. Chardy hit some very good returns on second serves to create breakpoints, but they were all followed by an ace or a winner.

Shapovalov won 6-3 3-6 7-5 6-4 - there are many places one can check results online, no need to memorise.

Only caught bits of the match myself but think he played well and was focused at the key moments.

No surprise here. The haters/trolls were everywhere in these threads following this kid's recent losses to good grass courters (Muller/Zverev) talking about how it made him overrated but crickets when he actually wins the meaningful slam match against a guy who came in with a great run of form on the surface.

Chardy was playing too much on grass this season.

OK, he loves the surface and is successful on it, but :

5 matches in Surbiton, won it all
5 matches in s`Hertogenbosch, lost in final to Gasquet .
4 matches in Queens, lost in SF to Djokovic .

14 grass matches in 3 weeks is just too much warmup .

Great win for Shapovalov and a solid match overall. 23 UE's in 4 sets is good by his standards. Should've ended in straights, but he just can't avoid that one single brain farting service game, can he? Clutch serving bailed out both throughout the match. However, Denis pressured Chardy's serve much more. It was hardly a surprise he eventually snapped in the end of the second and final sets.

Down the road 1st serve % should get higher and the RoS, especially on the BH side, should mellow down. He has a tricky, yet not impossible draw. But one match at a time. At this point his chances vs. anyone, be it a top 10 or challengers player, are 50% and depend mostly on the ability to control his youthful wildness.

Wondered why there was no thread for this match, it was a sig grass win for Denis.
He served like a SOB. Played very well, Chardy is not easy.
He beat Paire on clay, so I think he should on grass too.
