Re: Question: Would RG seed Nadal #1 if he falls out of top 4?

Apart from Wimbledon, where they use a formula based on grass court performance, all slams seed strictly according to ranking.

Nadal should play the senior version of FO and will surely be ranked #1 there ... I think.

I thought RG also had the option to adjust the rankings? Not sure it's ever made use of it, though.

No, they didn't do it 2013 when he was out of the Top 4.

No.

His seeding is irrelevant this year in RG, he will lose in the early rounds anyway.

The Frenchies don't even like Nadal so I don't think they'd do it even if they could

He was seeded third in 2013...I think I not quite get your post.

He was ranked #5 for most of the clay season, and this question was discussed ad nauseam. Roland Garros was like, "uh, if he's #5, he's #5, guys, we're not re-ranking".

As it turned out, he squeaked in front of Ferrer at the last minute and then Murray didn't play, so he ended up seeded #3.

Does it really matter where Nadal will be seeded in the context of RG? The only human to ever beat Rafa at RG is not playing on the tour.

Thanks, I didn't remember that. But still the post I quoted was worded wrongly then...we never actually got to know if Roland Garros really would not have propped Nadal up regardless.

Yeah I do not know why everyone discuss this. If Rafa is #5 he is #5 . At FO it does not matter one bit.

I think the Organizers said back then, they will not change the Seedings, if I remember correctly. I could be wrong though.

I found something here:
