Acasuso named to Argentina roster for Davis Cup final
Reuters

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina -- Jose Acasuso replaced off-form Guillermo Canas as Argentina named its team Tuesday for the Davis Cup final at home to Spain later this month.

Acasuso's inclusion was the only change to the team that beat Russia in September's semifinal, with David Nalbandian, Juan Martin del Potro and Agustin Calleri keeping their places, the Argentine Tennis Association said in a statement.

Del Potro, 20, is Argentina's highest-ranked player at No. 8 in the world, followed by Nalbandian, who is eleventh.

Canas has dropped to 77th while Acasuso is 48th.

Argentina, unbeaten at home for 10 years, has reached the final for the third time but has lost its previous two, against the United States in 1981 and Russia two years ago.

The Nov. 21-23 final will be staged indoors at the Islas Malvinas arena in the resort of Mar del Plata. The decision has angered Nalbandian, who wanted to play in his hometown of Cordoba.

Argentina team´s élite sparring partners:

Lucas Arnold (for doubles)

Nalbandian & Del Potro for Singles. Calleri & Acasuso or Nalby (depending on Friday) for doubles.

I think Spain will pick Ferrer and Feliciano for singles, of course Lopez/Verdasco will play doubles.

Lopez d. Del Potro 4-6 7-6(2) 7-6(4) 6-3

Lopez serving good and putting Del Potro in problems with his backhand slice...
in the 3rd set TBreak Del Potro was leading *4-3
during the 4th set. Del Potro suffered a nuisance (is ok to say this??) in one of his quadriceps

like Fiber said. probably Nalbandian will be in the court tomorrow

From a won final for Argentina, now it seems to be way too open i believe.

In my opinion, the worst decision would be to let Nalbia play in the doubles.
Argentina has few chances for this fixture and fielding David will not change the situation that much. Lopez-Verdasco is a top pair, both are good volleyers, both serve way better than any of the 3 prospects for the Argie pair.

If the captain burns Nalbi in the doubles, there is a chance for him to be too tired for the decisive match.

Now that Emilio Sanchez is stupid enough to let Ferrer play instead of Verdasco (this is a crime deserving jail time. He either got bribed or he is the blindest captain in history of DC), JMDP or anyone else would destroy the ex N4 and Nalbi will only have to win Lopez.

Of course, if by chance the Spanich captain becomes reasonable and lets Verdasco against Del Potro, i believe the Spaniard should be favourit, especially now that Delpo looks unfit.

Any info about who will play the two singles tomorrow?

Is Delpo fit? Will Sanchez act as a retard again and select Ferrer to embarasse himself..again?
