Great tactic by the Germans, picking clay so that Delpo would pull out. Most other teams wouldn't be that smart.

That would be a logical thought but Del Potro had never in his plans to play this DC tie.

Does anyone know if and where we can see the matches live on free tv in Germany?
I found nothing on the schedule of the so far regular broadcaster SPORT1(DSF).

The DTB says t.b.a. but I hope there is still a chance. Fed Cup will be broadcasted by SWR ...

Yes it's possible that Haas will play especially if Flo can't. But he wants to play doubles/mixed in London so although clay isn't his favourite court he would come.

Monaco and Chela are good on clay, German captain was sure Delpo wouldn't play if he chose clay
Yes, Germany played its best card to remove Del Potro. There wasn't anything more they could do to weaken the Argentina team imo. At least without him, there is some doubt as to who will play the other singles match(es) besides Monaco. Nalbandian is possibly the favourite, but he will be needed for doubles...so playing Friday and Saturday would be a risk. Chela's form has been on the slide since RG last year. Actually I'm surprised Berlocq wasn't named instead of Chela. He could play either singles or doubles.

The problem for Germany is that indoor clay is only really beneficial for Mayer...and that is a dangerous situation for them. He lacks the mental strength to be a strong Davis Cup singles player, and I'm not sure that he has recovered from his groin injury.

Kohlschreiber has hit good form at the best time, so hopefully he can challenge for a win against Chela or Nalbandian. Against Monaco...it will be very tough.

I'm not sure I like Haas being named in the squad tbh. I presume he would play doubles with Petzschner, which could be a good partnership if they can avoid choking...but is he physically and mentally ready for a potentially long match?

On paper Petzschner and Haas seems like a good doubles team. They have only played one match together though, they lost to Paes/Bhupati in RG last year. I can't wait for the doubles match.

If Mayer has one of his DC-meltdowns, Petzschner (or maybe even Haas) will probably get some singles action on sunday.

Does anyone know which matches DCTV will show?

Mayer is back after a long injury pause and was beaten by Mahut in Montpellier, he's not in top form but Kholi is in semi in Montpellier, he plays well and can be dangerous in DC

I hope to be wrong but I don`t see Argentina winning this tie as I think Germany has a stronger team .

Definitely the singles should be played by Monaco and Nalbandian if he is in good shape. Chela might team up with Schwank for the doubles match.
