Tomas Berdych - Igor Andreev

Bookies clearly overestimate Berdych due his recent results in Miami. Yeah, I know that all his victories are more than convincing over respectable players. So now everybody thinks that Berdych reached his potential and will keep rolling further. But similar things happened many times before. Tomas playing great, everyone with big hopes on him and then in last stages He come in like absolute crap without any effort - really tough mentality. It's almost sure that He will not hold that level also here. Andreev is also doing well here. Surface is good for me - He can use his forehand topspin properly. I'm sure his movement and shot selection will let him stay longer in rally than Dima did. Russian also served very well yesterday and hold in critical moments. I'm sure Andreev deserves to be respected in this stage, especially knowing Berdych last stage issues.

PS. Odds could rise on Igor even more, so It's maybe better to wait longer.

Pick: Andreev
Odds: 3.30
Bookie: Pinnacle
Stake: 4/10

needs a /sarcasm tag?

Taking Nadal at 1.6, I think the surface here suits him better than IW last week IMHO, and he did beat Blake then.
Also leaning on Andreev, thanks to Raymz who is quite persuasive, but Birdy has played some tough matches which should help him focus

Berdych is a deserved favourite, but has come up far too short. He is never trustworthy at short prices, and I don't think it would surprise anyone to see him lose.

And it might not count for much, but Andreev has beaten him 4 times on the lower circuits. This proves Igor knows how to beat him.

Andreev didnt do much to beat an out of sorts canas yesterday, i think the birdman vs andreev match will be good to bet on IN-Play, im sure birdman will go a break down, get it back and so on, so odds will be better.

Also it must be important to note that all those pevious meetings that they have played were 5 years ago, i think birdmans game when its on has come on a little from then.

The gamble with berdych is always will he turn up? If he does your ok if he doesnt your fucked.

WTA Miami

Elena Dementieva Over Jelena Jankovic @ Evens

Dementieva is in brilliant form at the momment, recently won dubai beating ivanovic and kuznetsova back to back. They key to dementievas success is her serve and she has it under control at the momment, less double faults and more precise 1st serves are going in for her at the momment. It will be a tough battle against Jankovic but im not convinced with her big game form this year, has lost many tight encounters and even struggled to put away Jie Zheng in the last round conceding 9 games. Dementieva has a good record in miami and i can see her edging this one.

Both players have improved significantly since then, and all the meetings were on clay, but Andreev still beat him 4 times from 4 attempts.

I know most people will probably back Blake at these odds but i am going:

Nadal to beat Blake @ 1.62 (1 1/3)

Blake isn't convincing at all this week on serve. He does got the advantage to play on home soil and has a little more rest. He spent considerable more time on court though this week. Rafa came in after a three-set marathon against Tsonga and still won last week. His Miami record also shows he has been quite impressive here over the years (almost beating Fedex here in the final 2 years ago in a 5 set marathon). Blake will be looking to overpower Nadal but over the last year Nadal has shown that especially on the backhand side he can turn defense into attack very nice. I expect this one to be a little easier than in IW and Nada to advance to the SF.

GL all!

Blake over Nadal @2.7
0.6 units to win 1.02 units

Blake 2-0 over Nadal @4.4

0.4 units to win 1.36 units

Nadal comes in here looking in fine form, but he was always going to for me after Nole got knocked out. He looks relaxed this week and was allowed to look good against an average Kiefer. PHM will always struggle to beat Rafa imo due to his poor shot selections at various points. This is still a bad match up for Rafa on a HC at the end of the day and worth a go.

Agree with stable unit ; Rafa played incredibly "short" against PHM but frenchman has no brain so...
I expect James to take this.
Maybe some specialists like Prabu or Jim could give their opinions.
