I mean these events literally have to be consecutive on the ATP schedule, not the player schedule.

Fed has done it:

2004 - Dubai ISG/Indian Wells
2005 - Dubai ISG/Indian Wells/Miami
2006 - Indian Wells/Miami, Madrid/Basel

Nadal:

2005 - Monte Carlo/Barcelona ISG/Rome
2006 - Monte Carlo/Barcelona ISG/Rome
2007 - Monte Carlo/Barcelona ISG/Rome

Novak has yet to do this.

Well let's look at it this way. Last year he made it to the final at IW and won Miami, so he was close. And since he's a better player now than he was this time last year...

The guy is just going to start to shine, you haven't seen anything yet. I predict back-to-back titles will soon follow. Give him some time.

1. Halle is not an ISG.
2. Halle and Wimbledon are not back to back, there is Nottingham/Hertogenbosch in between.
3. Cincy and US Open are not back to back either.

Actually, the fact that Federer won consecutively Wimbledon (grass), Gstaad (clay) and Toronto (hard) speaks more to me

I edited my original post. Hmm apparently Fed's stamina declined immediately after 2006 Masters Cup. He even skipped his usual Doha event in 2007.

2004? Were they actually consecutive on the schedule? Weren't Olympics that year, and Fed lost that in between...

Indeed.

That said, you can get a good rhythm and win back-to-back events in a year, but carrying that rhythm into the following years is a much bigger challange, perhaps the biggest challange in any sport.

Ell, by "consecutively" I mean "one after another in player's schedule"

He was the first man to do it since Bjorn Borg in 1979
