Seems they are butthurt over Verdasco beating Murray twice lately.
Hm, who gets to pocket ball kid abuse fine? Tournament or abused ball kid? Imagine if someone "abused" you by telling you to bring towel quicker and you get to pocket few thousand pounds for your troubles? Being abused just might become a dream for ball kids.

Classic blame the victim.
These are kids, wannabe tennis players, and the professional players are their role models. They better live up to expectations.
Abusing kids is one of the worst things you can do, even ignoring that.
The kids are there to help them, they do things like carrying their sweaty towels, dispose off their racket covers, banana skins and what not.
Wimbledon is right.

About bloody time. This rule should be implemented at every single tournament. Technically ball kids should only be there for the balls only. Sadly they also have to fetch dirty sweaty towels for the players. The very least the players can do is to not be a dick to them. Ain't no excuse for abusing ball kids. Players like Verdasco better be careful from now on.

Don't see who did I blame here. I just wondered who pockets the fine and following consequences. There are certainly no victims among ball kids, unless sjw schizophrenia lowers the bar for the term to be applied into the ground. If any real abuse happens, fine, sanction the player, but this witch hunt lately is just vomit inducing. Telling them to hurry up doesn't make them victims.
Wimbledon certainly don't have problem keeping a guy who really hurt ball kid on their board:

It's hard to believe so many dumb things can be said in one four line post but you managed it.

Anything that stops players behaving abusively to ball kids is a good thing.

Good move from Wimbledon, ball kids are there to fetch towels and balls not to get yelled at.

If players feel too anxious they can carry a stress ball in the bag or practice deep breathing.

It's actually right on the target and all valid points, plus a bit of sarcasm. Guess your frail "hypnotized" sjw mind can't take it.

How about hiring ball people to do it and paying them? Oh yeah, tennis tournaments barely making ends meet.
Newsflash: no player is abusing kids. It's just lame propaganda. Go hunt pedophiles or something.

"Being abused just might become a dream for ball kids" - here you go.
There is nothing SJW about it, I know when SJW go over the head. These are kids, not adults we are talking about here.
They are helping the players, not for getting shouted at or abused.
And the umpires aren't stupid to give time violation to a player because the ball kid dropped a ball.

Sorry, but your post was really ridiculous.

I agree with the principle here but fines are pointless for all but the lowest ranked players; what's a few thousand pounds to a millionaire? They should be deducting ranking points - that would really concentrate their minds.

There's no need to even touch their precious points. Just deny the access to all ball kids for the next N matches. That would teach abusive players to appreciate the massive help they get and reconsider their attitude very quickly. But, because decision makers don't give half a damn about those children and only care about the appearance, no serious preventive measures will ever be taken. Silly fines will do nothing, just like they do nothing to prevent other code violations.

Players are going to get angry from time to time, I don't know if fines will prevent anything. And what counts as abuse, how do they police it.
It's easy to make symbolic policies and gain claps, but let's see how this plays out.

Considering how much prize money increase year on year, any fine would be pretty much a slap on the wrist.

They should ban players (spoiled brats) for such behaviours.

The real question is how the hell this wasn't standard practice from day one. There's nothing more shameful than abusing the ballkids of all people.
