Stan didn't come out of 1st gear for much of the match, but there were some very pretty rallies and points. Goff was unlucky not to get a set.

Up next for Stan in the QFs - Gasquet.

Stan is overrated.
He was lucky Goff wasted his chances or this would have been much much closer.
Stan is only vulturing on chokovic and declinedal.
This Wimby is in Murrays' bag.

Stan missing every groundstroke, still doesn't lose a set. Ruins, ruins everywhere.

Staniel and Martha played back-to-back matches on the same court 3 ouf of 4 times this Wimbledon. Both are totally out of sorts but haven't drop a set yet and are likely to bullshit their way to SF where they get destroyed. Or they both could be dispatched by more natural grasscourters already in QF

As expected, Goffin managed to break Stan's backhand down easily but couldn't quite cope with his serve and forehand. But I'm not mad at Staniel, he did exactly what I expected—capitalized on a weak draw. That' what champions do even when off form. 5th straight slam QF—who would've thought after last year's GGL debacle?

Oh, and this is Staniel's first ever Top-20 win on grass :hearts:

Anyway, has to say the 1st Set I thought was the best he played this tournament, the BH not breaking as much as the past matches, although still had problems. However, his serve was there on the 1st and early 2nd Set and played a good 1st Set TB to really get the opportunity. 2nd Set though was tricky as Stan had a lead break but then threw away with a bad game. Goffin also started to play better and did more good winners to really be trouble. However, he managed to survive until the TB, where it was closer than the 1st Set, and after that clutch slice BH passing shot he was able to win the TB later on. Stan still seem off in the 3rd Set and Goffin was the better player IMO during the early parts and did eventually got a break. Stan however, as much possible did try to break back which he did. Played a GOAT returning game to break again then served it out well.
