thats a really good win for david. really pleasantly surprised. he played so well and dismantled marcos piece by piece. up next is stan or verdasco. more than likely thats where his tournament ends but he's picked up some good points here that will really help him balance out all he has to defend coming up

Match of his life. Tremendous performance from Goffin. First serve was great, his early hitting on both sides were heavier, great court coverage, counter punching etc. Looked in control of every point.

Baggy can't feel too bad - he could have definitely been better but Goffin was at a crazy level today.

Bummer. These two guys play very similarly, but Goffin did everything just a little better. Baghdatis should have tried changing it up a little, but unfortunately decided to stick to his regular game.

Good for Baghdatis to reach R3 here despite some injury concerns, looks like he was able to make it competitive with a few breaks of serve and BPs, but an impressive win from Goffin here. Hope he is up to challenging Wawrinka next round.

David was just too good, too fast, too solid. Congrats to him and his fans - he played an almost perfect match, and should give Stan/Verdasco a stern examination in the next round.

Marcos looked flat today, but part of that is due to David never allowing him a foothold in the match (that service game where he DFed twice to give MB two break points - which he saved anyway - aside). On paper this draw looked like a great opportunity for Bags to make week two of a grand slam, but sadly it was not to be.

Baghdatis hasn't looked like second week material for about 7 years now.

A few months ago I would completely agree, but he was a set away from R4 at the AO this year - and also made the 3rd round here and was looking good on grass until this demolition.

Really surprised at how good Goffins baseline play was. Great movement and shot selection, very solid. A definite top 20 player.

If he's facing Stan next, it will be tough for him and a big step up from Bago.

Big win for his confidence, you could see how much it means to him the way he celebrated. Goffin never looked in trouble beside that error-fest second set. He handled the match like a real top 15.
