Will US Open 2020 be the first Slam without at least 2 of Big 3 since 2004 Wimby????

Djokovic fans have suffered at the US Open more than any fan base in the history of tennis.
Djokovic has been the favorite every year since 2011 (apart from 2017 when he didn't play), and he's only won it 3 times.
And now Djokovic is struggling to beat Thiem at the AO....

In an ironic twist I do assume Djokovic is gonna play seeing he somehow now has immunity to COVID seeing he already got inflicted by it -- not sure if any of the top players (including outside the Bigs) will even participate seeing they can just focus on a seemingly safer European clay schedule.

(Reuters) - Former champions Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Serena Williams have all entered next month's Western & Southern Open in New York, which will serve as a tune-up for the U.S. Open, tournament organisers said on Wednesday.

"It is a particular shock that Nadal has been listed to play in the warm-up tournament given he confirmed his participation for the Madrid Masters immediately after the conclusion of the US Open."

It would be "asterisked" like 2019 wimby's 12:12 tb. Not ordinary, something totally new, but still by the rules.

Yes but Federer is injured and Nadal prefers to focus on RG as he knows he can't win both GS in a couple of weeks time. But if the US Open takes place, Murray will play as all the outsiders like Thiem, Zverev, Medvedev, Rublev, Khachanov, Sinner, RBA, Shapovalov, FAA,...
Maybe Wawrinka won't go or Dimitrov if not enough in form to play. Fognini might miss it too, but he was operated in June.
So I expect 70 to 80% of the top 100 to show up which would be a great number due to circumstances, so no GS with asterix and it would even be interesting to see how players react without the crowd and a smaller team for the big guns.
Apparently the final decision to hold or not the event will be released on 3 August.
no asterix??, with no crowd and no points to distribute? you`re kidding, right?

NOT AT ALL
ATP points are distributed. Each player will get the best result from either 2019 or 2020, so for Djokovic or Thiem, they can get a lot of points for instance...
And the crowd, you still need to win your matches, don't you ? When I play tennis at my very low level, there is nobody watching, but you still need to focus, to try to your best, try to use the good tactics, etc...s

For your information, 40 out of the 43 best players signed in for Cincinnati, even Nadal, it means that almost everyone except the injured players, intend to play the US Open; so if the US Open takes place it won't be an asterix unless many players have problems to travel or if half of draw gets positive.

Could care less about which big 3 r there or not but peeved that no.1 won’t get chance to defend a consecutive 3rd WB so USO is just one small consolation.

With Nadal's official withdrawal today, if US Open does get played this year, it will indeed be first slam since Wimby 2004 without at least 2 of the Big 3.

Younger players: Wetting their pants in anticipation of a finals spot up for grabs.
