Novak has been number 1 since July 7, 2014. Federer has come very close to dethroning him last year. Now there's a 1530 pts difference between them. Both had a QF showing at the AO last year. Wafa is 4000 points away from the #1, but a lot can happen in a year and it usually does.

Will Nole lose it and if he does lose it who will take the #1 spot from him?

The same Andy Mugray who's never been #1 in his entire career. It will never ever happen. #2 is the best he's ever achieved and will ever achieve. He'd have to leapfrog Nishikori, Wawrinka, Rafa, Rogie, and Djokovic. There's no way he does all of that.

There is nobody out there that looks like they can take world no.1 from Novak. I would say Roger but he's 33. It's going to be tough for him to find the consistency. On the other hand though at the rate Roger's going there's not much reason why he can't.

Most likely not.

Roger MIGHT - if he can somehow maintain the same consistency he showed in 2014 (and puts in a better performance than a 4th round loss at the French Open) and Novak loses early at IW/Miami.

Unlikely with Rafa - unless his 2015 turns out like his 2013 season - and we all know what happened there

Federer is very fit guys and now plays great tennis with huge confidence. You could see how many lesser players have a confidence
when they play vs top players. I was surprised by Berrer # 150 or something had no fear vs Nadal and beat him. Karlovic showed no fear vs Djokovic #1 at all. Klizan beat Nadal and did not show any fear in their match. I am sure there is a talk in locker room and many players now believe that they could beat top players if they play well for two or three hours. Maybe they will not win the title but they could upset some top players. Even this Millman #154 played against Federer like his live depends on it. If i was an young player and saw Berrer at 34 or Karlovic at 35 could beat these top players i will think why i do not push myself a bit to do that. That is what Nishikori,Raonic said as well.

Only chance is Fed after AO, IW and Miami. Roger will be fresh enough for good performances in these but Djokovic needs to be poor in his favourite tournaments. So no: Nole will keep his spot.

Roger has a shot in the first 6 months. Since Halle Federer is the No. 1 with 6915 points, Djokovic 6305. In the clay season Federer defend only 920 points and Djokovic 2560. Even Federer could have a shot after Wimbledon if Djokovic fail to defend his title and Roger at least reach the final. There are a lot of factors who could change the rankings in the next months even Roger has a shot to be No. 1 after the AO, of course that won't happen (Djokovic losing in 3rd Round and Federer being the champion).

I give Federer a 15% to be No. 1 in the next 6 months

Novak defends QF points in Australia, but Roger made the SF. He defends 720 points, which makes it very difficult for him to take the #1 from Nole after the AO. He would have to win the title and for Nole to lose before the R16. That's unlikely.
Roger will threaten Novak in the first half of the year, especially during the clay season. After that, the threat will come from Rafa.
I think Novak has a good chance to keep the #1 all year.
