Unlikely i think
Anyone can be #1 if three boxers get in the ring and two knock each other out. But you can't be in the boxing ring if you are fishing in mallorca.

Unlikely now that there a few players who aren't scared to death of him.

No#1 , no way because for that you have to win /play finals of multi slams and many masters

Rafa can however win his CUSTOMARY RG even in a bad form for next 2 years.

Everything has to end at one point. Rafa becoming #1 is almost impossible

Not a chance in hell.

He's getting waxed on his beloved dirt so one wonders how badly things will decline for him in Indoor season which he usually punks out of cause he's tired, injured or whatever. Now that the claycourt points haven't been defended he'll have no choice but to play in all of them and that'll be oh so good to watch when the top players get a hold of him.

Nadal's chances of reaching #1 severely diminished now that scientists have discovered a change in Earth's gravity that affects the rotation of Rafa's balls only (I mean tennis balls).

He has defended a good bulk of his claycourt points so far, playing at 75 %.

It was all about RG the last season as it is all about RG this season and he's not going to perform at just 75 % there.

No.1 ?

Maybe next year, but it must be 4 different slam and masters winners, very close point wise to each other, and Nadal winning three masters, slam and making another slam final.

I wouldn't bet (a dead cat) on it, though.
