Obviously we all know about Goran Ivanisevic's famous Wimbledon victory, but Kyrgios' great run to the quarters (so far) got me wondering - what are the best runs by wildcards in the slams?

Blake at the 2005 US Open made the QF beating Nadal. Connors had the legendary run there to the SF in 1991. Leconte made the RG semis in 1992.

Marray and Nielsen won the Wimbledon doubles with a wildcard.

not a slam but Raonic won San Joe as a WC ranked 156 in 2011 and then was the runner up the following week in Memphis also as a WC. Not sure I remember a player making back to back finals as a WC anywhere before.

The difference between Kyrgios and most big wild card runs is that Kyrgios was not ranked very high at any point before the wild card. Blake, Ivanisevic, Connors etc all had known potential.
