Can someone possibly justify the rationale behind cancelling the Istomin/Wawrinka and Isner/Lopez matches? Play resumed at 6:00 PM local time today. Assuming there is no more rain, they should have been able to at least get 3 hours of play in. Why wouldn't the individuals whom handle the schedule kick the juniors off court 4 and 5 and have each of those matches played today?

This gives a gross unnecessary disadvantage to the above four players.

What is the reasoning behind Wimbledon cancelling those matches

To make sure Federer has it as easy as possible with his QF opponent playing three days in a row, of course

Even weirder because Lopez-Isner will probably go 10 hours

This is really unfair. And now the central court is empty

I wonder how many pages would this thread have if those were matches of Nishikori and Raonic :scared:

...so that it helps Federer, as he can play a tired opponent.

Bouchard-Petkovic was over around 7:15-7:30. They had at least 2 more hours of play, and Federer finished even before that! They could have moved either match to CC and the other to court 3 after Bouchard/Petkodance.

Wimbledon you suck.

I remember when Rafa had to play 3 days in a row, or was it 4?

They served on plate some of the Wimbledons to Federer.

He was stuck in the 3rd round against Soderling in 07. Fed actually didn't have a 3rd round (or 4th. Can't remember which round it was but Haas pulled out before it) so while Rafa was playing his 3rd round over 4 days Fed got a haircut. Honestly Rafa had no one to blame for that match not finishing that Saturday but himself. 07 was peak Wimbledon weather.

It's times like this where I still question the middle Sunday rule. It's the most ridiculous "tradition" Wimbledon has. Seeing how they don't ever properly rework the schedule to somehow finish matches not to mention the curfew, they should utilize that Sunday in cases where players never get on court due to inclement weather. They could put more matches on Centre and C1 but that's extremely rare for whatever reason. When they know it'll be a day of questionable weather, they still refuse to at least start play on Centre and C1 earlier. But nope. Wimbledon will forever be stuck in the 19th century with their "tradition." The tournament seems to like putting itself in these predicaments. It's not like they don't know what the weather will be like to plan around it. It's like they just don't care to. It's "tradition" to be impractical and stupid.
