He was 5-2 prior 2011 season. Since 2011 nole is 9-0. The serb hasnt lost to tsonga since AO 2010 ( although he withdrew in paris 2011).

It seems djoker 2011+ is hell of a matchup for jo. What did tsonga fail to adapt on his game to be more competitive with the current version of Nole ?

Re: Why Tsonga turned djokovic pigeon?...

Firstly, it's explainable because of the fact that Djokovic is much stronger since 2011. As for Jo, he's declining a bit since 2 years now, he's less agressive and less confident when he plays against the top guys.

Tsonga has always been an up and down player, it's even more visible now. He has an erratic BH which was never fixed. He has declined in the last years while Djokovic has improved.

Tsonga struggles against anyone that can

A - Return his serve effectively
B - Expose his BH (admittedly it isn't such a liability these days, but all other aspects of his game have declined).

Re: Why Tsonga turned djokovic pigeon?...

Tsonga had majority of his wins against Djokovic during the 2009/10 season when Djokovic was completely lost ... Todd Martin, change of racquet, no serve, no confidence, 100 DF per match etc. When playing well, Djokovic is simply a much better player than Tsonga who is a great player too btw. Nole is also much more consistent than Jo.

So he only needs to fix his backhand and make it more assertive, no ?

I agree, consistency is the main thing. If you can't keep up in the rallies with Djokovic, you're always in the losing position by default.

Well Novak raised his game a lot in 2011, hence his destruction of a talentless mug like peak Dull.

Jo is a great player and can still give Novak a fight but sadly he is too inconsistent.

I agree with almost all posts here :)

Additionally, big hitters are good match-ups for Djokovic I think. Berdych and del Potro have big troubles against him as well.

Exactly

Tsonga was winning against Novak when the Serb was totally lost.

Not a shame. Someone else is also Djokovic's pigeon since 2011.
implying nadal is, no ? The big difference is after ao 2012 rafa is 6-4 against nole. Rafa was 6-1 if you count post Ao2012 - Uso 2013 period. so its totally different situation. He also is 0-3 vs rafa on GS after the marathonic AO 12 final.

since the end of 2011, to use your parameter, rafa leads the djoker 6:5, including 3:1 at the slams.. so if anyone's been a pigeon, it's the djoker.. just saying.. :wavey:
Of course, ignore the 2011. :rolls:
