He's old and past his best.

You're right about those reasons, but your titled conclusion is faulty.

On grass, Federer is similar to Nadal on clay; he doesn't need to be at his best to beat everyone; he just can't have an off day and be worse against the red-lining players like Stakhovsky, Tsonga, Berdych, and Nadal, the only four times he has lost at the Wimbledon Championships since 2003.

He is Ye Olde Federer and well past his best, but it doesn't matter against this weak group of grass players. ;)
He already proved that in 2012, only Wimbledon before last.

Wow, did you really need to open this thread? We all know Fed is well past his prime.

Because The last time a player who was about to turn 33 won Wimbledon was Jaroslav Drobny in 1954.

Mind you, if Federer were to win Wimbledon this year, he'd be a few months older than Drobny was then, and so would be the oldest male winner of Wimbledon since Bill Tilden in 1930 (who was 37).

1954. There is a reason why nobody as old as Federer has won Wimbledon since 1954.

So you're saying Federer probably won't win 17 slams since noone has done it before? Oh, wait....

Rosewall won 23 majors. Laver won 19 majors. IT HAS BEEN DONE BEFORE.

His level was way better in 2012.

Before Wimbledon 2012 he had won Indian Wells beating Nadal on his way to the title. Won Madrid. Won Rotterdam. Won Dubai. SF at the AO and RG. Anyone who can't see his level was superior in 2012 is just blind.

Arthur Gore won Wimbledon in 1909 for the third time. He was 41.

So there is precedent.
