He always plays locopulco dosen't he? (when healthy).

I'm more disappointed Stan didn't choose Dubai as that would have have stacked the field even more given his past exploits v Djokovic.

Why play Dubai and get destroyed by Djokovic when you could vulture Acapulco playing the likes of Dimitrov?
Hes spanish in a spanish talking country. Plus hes in the same time zone. Why would he go to Dubai and play with a federer crowd? And diferent timezone?

Djokovic and Nadal met @ Dubai or Acapulco so its way too early to say how their H2H would go.

World map -wise its hard to accuse Nadal off anything?

Let's compare, one-on-one, for the best five players at Acapulco and Dubai.

The best player - Acapulco (Rafa - 19 slams) v. Dubai (Djokovic - 17 slams)
Second best player - Acapulco (Wawrinka - 3 slams) v. Dubai (Cilic - 1 slam)
Third best player - Acapulco (Dimitrov - highest title won - ATP Finals) v. Dubai (Tsitsipas - highest title won - ATP Finals)
Fourth best player - Acapulco (Zverev - highest title won - ATP Finals) v. Dubai (Khachanov - highest title won - Masters 1000)
Fifth best player - Acapulco (Isner - highest title won - Masters 1000) v. Dubai (Fognini - highest title won - Masters 1000)

Field - Acapulco (Strong) v. Dubai (Weak)

Which is delusional, considering that Wawrinka won a Bo3 match vs Djokovic in 2006 for the last time. 13.5 year ago
Let that sink in. Something is sure wrong with your evaluation, but it's not the first time that you ignore such "nuances".

Well, Dubai had a somewhat stronger field, so then it was good Nadal picked Acapulco. If both Nadal and Djokovic would have played Dubai, it would have been a huge difference between the two 500 tournaments, but now the imbalance wasn't too big. That Rafa got an easy draw wasn't his fault, and his chances of winning anyway would have been great.
