Vs. the Czechs indoors away, and Barazzutti picks Bolelli, Bracciali, Seppi, and Starace?

Fognini is the #2 ranked Italian and is 10x better than those mugs.

Fognini has better things to do than play tennis. No big deal.

The Fog is slightly injured since December.

Simone won last 2 on Berdych, including one in Basel. Seppi almost pulled one off today, too.

How isn't he?
do you know anything about tennis or those players at all??
Fognini never showed anything outside clay and slow HC

Bolelli might be a headcase (although Fabio is probably even a bigger one), but his game is the most suited to fast HC among all Italians. Seppi has been playing consistently well indoors his whole career, and has some great results on the surface.

If anything, Fognini playing here would have been a retarded choice.

PS. Berdych - Fognini last match: USO 75 60 60

Hmmm, perhaps.

I still think he'd have a better chance to win a tie (or at least the doubles) than these guys if he's at his best (low% chance) especially since he's injured now.

Seppi and Bolelli were the safe choices, true.

Fognini doesnt have much to offer outside of clay, but then again I don´t see what Bolelli has to offer on any surface these days. A motivated Fabio would surely be a better choice. Having said that, there´s a good chance Fabio is anything but motivated at any given time...

The question needs to be rephrased to: "Why would The Fog choose DC?".

JG you are dissappointing lately.

Ajde.

Also we have to say that Bolelli is one of the most talented players on tour, even more then Fognini. If Simone plays well, he can win agianst anyone.

Well, Simone took one set off Berdych and made the match very competitive. Bolelli hasn't been that bad lately, certainly not as bad as Fabio in his last match against Berdych

It would have been the same, even if they played four against one they still would have fortunately lost.

But he does not, and in the last years he has been destroyed by Kindlmann, Veic, Marcan and many others I don't remember, so it's not that useful to be "talented" if you win a match every five years.

Fognini had withdrawn from Montpellier last week : I just guessed he was injured

OR maybe it's an internal story inside Davis cup team, as I can see that Seppi came back after not being selected for long.

I've never seen him play outside of clay but I had heard his return of serve was very poor ?

Yeah, it kinda is, but the serve is good and attacking game/netplay is fine. I think only Seppi can be considered a more or less good returner, Fognini and Starace are not good at it either.

If you lose 1-6 0-6 to a midget mug like Dudi Sela, of course the captain won't pick him .
