Fucking hell - how many of these paid PR bots does Sinner have on MTF?
Didn't know it was possible but for once I agree with you.

Another why is Sinner not liked thread....🥱

This. Nadal beat Federer when he finally became #1. Djokovic went on his famous streak against Nadal when he became #1 for the first time. Sinner lost in every single match against Alcaraz this season.
Factor in that it was also not a very dominating win like what we have been used to with the combination of multiple and consecutive master series wins (think Djokovic Federer sunshine doubles, Montreal or cincy, coupled with some clay masters here and there, or Nadal 10, 13), for most tennis fans, it feels like an Alcaraz 21, Murray 16, Hewitt 01-02 type of year instead of a Fed, Nadal, Djokovic year

following up on my post, most fans remember no.1 years from Federer Djokovic and Nadal with multiple masters series wins combined with huge slam successes, dominating their rivals during those years. Djokovic and Federer achieved the sunshine double multiple times, also winning in the European clay court swing as well as North America hard court swing, as well as Shanghai, Paris. Nadal had years where he swept all clay titles while also winning Montreal and Cindy (10,13). So Janniks feels more like a 2016 Murray, 2001-2 Hewitt, 1999 Andre Agassi, 2003 Roddick, Federer 17 type of no.1. Sure they performed the best in a certain period, but you felt like there were better players at that time. 2016 Djokovic in bi events, 2001-2 Agassi, 1999 Sampras.

Murray was the best in 2016.

I love Murray, incredible player and he deserved his no.1 ranking. But Djokovic won two slams and four masters while Andy Murray won one slam and three masters. So it definitely didn’t feel like a dominating no.1 year.
You have conveniently ignored that Murray also won the Olympics and Year End Finals, both bigger than masters.

Not bigger than extra slam. Also 0-2 in the GS finals against Djokovic in 2016, winning only one set in two matches
Luck of the draw really. They met only at the 2 slams where the surface favours Djokovic in the match up.

If the 2 meetings were at Wimbledon and USO it’s 2-0 Murray.

They’re 1-1 at the us open where Murray lost early to Nishikori early. I like Murray a lot, I’m just saying he didn’t have a dominating no.1 season like fed, Nadal and Djokovic.

You said “there were better players at that time”. That is different from saying he didn’t dominate the entire season.

Like I said, it’s not clear cut that Murray performed better wt the bigger events during the year. Djokovic won two slams, Murray won a slam, Olympics and wtf. Djokovic won more masters. It’s definitely debatable.

There is no debate. They essentially had a play off at the end of the year for world no.1. Murray took it.
