Do you think these guys fluked their way to the 2nd week of the '05 US Open. Or have their games matured. Personally I think Ginepri will use this run, as a spring booard to bigger and better things. Even though Ginepri has the personality of a toenail, he has a lot of game. He reminds me of Hewitt. Except with more power off both sides, and a more powerful serve. I can totally see him being a huge hurdle to the likes of Safin and Roddick. And he played Federer pretty tight in the Cincinatti semis as well. I think Ginepri will push into the top 20 and stay there for a while.

Blake on the other hand, I am afraid will have some good results. But I think his game is too high risk to have the consistent results that will threaten the upper ranks. Blake is infinitely more exciting to watch than Ginepri. But you never know what you will get with him. I think his career will parallel Gonzale's career. Blake can beat anyone when he is on. But can loose to anyone when things aren't clicking.

Blake has to up his ranking by doing better in smaller tournaments. He has always done well in the Slams (ie not going out 1st rd), but his achille's has always been meeting the Hewitts and Federers in the 2nd/3rd round. He was lucky to brush by an inexperienced Nadal.

enough already with the comments about Robby's personality. He shows as much emotion on court as Borg did, does this mean that Borg had no personality? Have you ever had a conversation with him, heard his sense of humor? Sheesh...

As for the actual question, I'm terrible at making predictions and even worse at analyzing the technical aspects of someone's game, but I have long felt that Robby had the most talent of 'the rest of the Young Americans' and I still do. I think 15 years from now, we may be reflecting on Robby having had a better career overall than James.

I think they are both the real deal. I think Blake looks like the better player between them. It might end up being a question of stamina and mental toughness as to which one does better.

It will be interesting to see what happens when either of them have to play Roddick in one of the next tournaments. For that matter, I'd like to see what happens when Blake and Ginepri play each other.

Ginepri is a good player, but am not convinced his game is up there. He was almost beaten by an injured Gasquet who was delivering wta serves as a result of the injury. I know Gasquet is a great player, but Ginepri didn't convince me he is up there with the best.

Back to Robby. I think he's one of those people that you have to get to know in order to see their personality. He seemed quietly affable when I saw him around fans at the LA tournament. He's not one of those players that turns his personality 'on' in order to impress.

James seems already satisfied with being in the top 50. He knows he's lucky and he's gotten deals that other players similarly ranked near him haven't gotten.

While I agree, I dont see either of them winning a slam any time soon. I would say Blake has more game, his transition game is certainly a lot better than Ginepris and his volleys are much better than Ginepris, does Ginepri even venture up to the net at all, other than to put away sitters or when pulled in by his opponent? The Blake forehand is monsterous to say the least, and his footspeed is quite underrated.

Blake will have a better career. Since his injuries he has a renewed vigour and has obviously changed his game for the better. Its not as high risk as it used to be, and he waits now before he pulls the trigger in the rally. His serve and backhand have really improved, and he can get to the top 10 if he keeps going like this. Good wins over Nadal and an almost win over Agassi will raise his confidence a lot.

Ginepri didnt really impress me and I think he was lucky with his draw, not having to play any top players to reach the SF. He doesnt have as many weapons as Blake, and not consistent enough to beat Agassi who wasnt playing his best.

Ginepri seems to me as the player who will be the more consistant over time, he has quite a solid service game and plays well from the baseline, he no longer rushes winners and it has had a marked improvement.

But im pretty damn biased being a Ginepri fan
