Who would have won the Slams Federer won if Federer wasn't around to win them?

I am new to this board and thought I should start it with an (interesting) thread so I did after I suddenly came up upon a question.

If in all the 5 Grand Slams that Federer won Federer would have been injured or just not there, who would have won them? One might say: the person he beat in the final, but if you look at the last Wimbledons for instance then you can see a guy like Hewitt or Gonzales might have gotten that final spot and beaten Roddick like there is no tomorrow...
But anyway, I was wondering. I will give my own opinion later :)

It's surely Hewitt because in the last 6 Slams he was stopped near the final by the eventual winner
For me, the only case that I have doubts about the result, and think that is fun to guess about is AO 2004. All the others, I am very sure that would have been Hewiit or Roddick
Hewitt for the AO 2004, US Open 2004, and toss up btw Roddick and Hewitt for the 3 Wimby

Federer may your reign of dominance continue :rocker2:

3 wimby? I dont think Karlovic would have lost if Federer wasn't around that tourney? :D
Roddick Wimbledon 2003, 2005
Agassi USO 2004
Hewitt Wimbledon 2005
Nalbandian AO 2004
IMO:

Wimb 2003 - Roddick
AO 2004 - Safin
Wimb 2004 - Roddick
US 2004 - Hewitt
Wimb 2005 - a close call between Roddick and Hewitt with Roddick having a slight edge based on his better Queens performance.
hewitt or safin

I would switch Wimb 2004 and 2005 around actually.. I think Hewitt was a lot stronger in 2004 wimby than 2005. but as you said, your own opinion :)

I might as well give mine now cause I am going to eat now.

Wimb 2003 - forgot about that one, such a long time ago. Would probably have been Roddick indeed.
AO 2004 - Ferrero...I think Safin was way too tired in that final to make it hard for anyone?
Wimb 2004 - Hewitt. Hewitt played out of his mind that tournament. Hewitt - Federer I think was still of the best matches I ever watched...Hewitt rocked, he so should have made that a 5th set. Roddick wasnt good that tourney. Only in the final he gave Federer a bit of a scare
US2004 - Hewitt for sure
Wimb 2005 - I'd also say Hewitt, although I give Roddick a better shot than in 2004.
USOpen 2005 - Hewitt I think. (Federer will win this and beat Hewitt again...)

The reason I came up with this question is Hewitt really...If Federer wouldnt have been around I think Hewitt would have dominated the game himself...Although, as all the players say, Federer has lifted everybody's game really. hewitt is now better than 3 years ago, solely because of Federer. Same for all the other players.

interesting question

Wimbledon 2003- Flip (yes, Flip)
Wimbledon 2004- roddick
AO 2004 - nalbandian
USO 2004 - agassi
Wimbledon 2005- lleyton
prolly roddick or hewitt- they were the best contenders for the titles federer took.

I would like to say nadal, but we know i would be dreaming.
Ferrero would have won them all

USO 2004: Marcos Baghdatis
Wimbledon 2005: Kenneth Carlsen
AO 2004: Peter Luczak
Wimbledon 2003,2004,2005 Roddick

If you are going to take everything seriously, then yes.
If you just try to imagine things, and say that Federer withdraws when the draws were already made, then the only difference would be that Federer's opponents would get their chances which makes this a topic that makes sense.
