Wilander is an overachiever? He won FO at the age of 17!

People have got to remember clay in the 80's was slow, really slow. Compared to today's play, everyone would be a pusher.

Yannick Noah won the French Open the following year beating Mats Wilander. Was the clay faster that year?

Disagree, he was often the aggressor in the rallies, taking the ball very early and dictating the rallies quite often.
Not against top players he was.

Pushing to me is basically doing the most with lesser talent than the others. Less offensive abilities.

Ferrer would be the best of that since the millenium.

Djokovic and Monfils meanwhile push because they like to. And now, because Nole's forehand declined.

Medvedev isn't really a pusher but some sort of hybrid.
Hybrid of what

Federer or Fognini.. Or any french player
Are we watching the same sport? Fabio displays some of the most aesthetic ball striking esp. when he gets into a groove to construct points on Clay. Claybots should thank their lucky stars his ADD/ADHD or whatever he often has prevents him from that consistency throughout matches. No real GOAT pusher (since everyone resorts to it at some level) but probably closest goes to Ferrer but French players would also b accurate.

Ferrer has been described as a grinder IIRC. More aggressive than a pusher.

edit. There was a DV (before he became 100% invested in oats) thread about different styles.

the distinction comes from trying to be more offensive but just not having the capabilities of the best shotmakers.

Murray is a good counterpuncher, has a great backhand which he uses for attacking, forehand too every now and then, he gets to the net when he has an opportunity and executes very well up there; also he has a big 1st serve and a dangerous return. Stop calling him a pusher.
