I think Agassi, Nalbandian,Davydenko and Nishikori are quite similar to each other, no big serve, about 180height,strong in both wing, agressive in baseline, not very good in defence comparing to Hewitt, Ferrer, these four are elite shot-maker.

talk about the differences between these four, also ,techically, who is the best shot-maker?

Re: who is the best shot-maker?

I think Agassi and Nalbandian are stronger, they are more powerful and their ball are little bit heavier.

Kei and Nikolay are quicker.

Also, when on the run,NAL and DAVY have better ability to balance themself, also their backhand are better.

Agassi and Kei are more explosive, they have the better forehand. Davydenko also had a good forehand, but because his lacking of power, his ability of generating the power is quite weak, his inside-out forehand also lacking the stability.

Agassi has the best forehand among these four, Nalbandian has the best backhand.

Off the FH: Agassi > Nishikori > Davydenko > Nalbandian

Off the BH: Nalbandian > Agassi > Nishikori > Davydenko

Overall: Agassi > Nalbandian > Nishikori > Davydenko

It's pretty close though, all are awesome shotmakers :yeah: Wish we could see a match between peak Nalbandian and peak Kei just for the BH shotmaking alone!

Re: who is the best shot-maker?

don't agree. I think Agassi has the worst backhand between these four, of course he has the best forehand.

Nalbandian's forehand can not be called a big weapon, sometimes it is really a weakness. In men's game, if you don't have a big serve, you don't have a great forehand, you really lack some firepower, you can't finish the point quickly, also, in crucial moment, you can not play very agressive, coz you need your forehand to finish the point.

But I think Nalbandian has the best feel of the ball, his net play is pretty good, also, he has the best drop shot, which make up his game a little bit since he clearly lacking the explosive power.

Agassi and company are legends but for shot-making Federer and his student are not getting beaten.

Re: who is the best shot-maker?

I am more interested in their differences rather than who is better, technically, they have their advantage and disadwantage, it's hard to say who is the best coz we can't estimate in accurate numbers.

What is the differences between Davydenko and Kei since they are both quick and hit the ball on the rise?

Depends on what you mean - pure winners or more variety orientated shot making. Nalbandian had the widest breadth of shots in his arsenal by far. He literally "made" shots from nowhere on a regular basis. Agassi and Davydenko were pure baseliners with supreme timing.

Could someone please define 'shot-maker' for me? Why aren't people like Berdych, Cilic and Tsonga, who hit their fair share of winners, considered shot-makers?

Those are ball bashers. It's mainly power they have, not much touch, variety, etc. Although Tsonga does have a fair share of that too.

A lot of people mix with the definition of SHOT MAKER. The sensationalistic commentators have it down as one thing and the coaches another. I think MTF has a warped idea of a shot maker, if they have Agassi as the number one.
