The "worst to first" in a specific slam. Not playing the previous year doesn't count. Rafael Nadal has a chance to do this in Wimbledon.

64 players have a chance to do this every slam. There's nothing special about Rafa. Like the other 63 guys he will more than likely fail to do so.

On the other hand, Lleyton Hewitt lost in the first round of Wimbledon the year after he won it. Shockingly, Federer lost in the second round the year after he won it. Nadal lost in the second round after being a finalist the previous year.

More than that, I think Nadal is the 1st one being the winner and finalist (2010,2011) then lost in 2nd round and 1st round the next 2 years.

As for upcoming wimbledon, nobody who lost 1R last year has a shot
