1 - not really sold on his first round win. he beat giraldo in straights but it seems santi gave him a lot of help and Monaco is a good clay courter

2- feliciano is no clay titan and young has been playing well this year

3. its not a good sign that thomaz was taken to 5 by becker and his clay season so far has been a complete disapointment. That being said if he found form here he could definately take out fognini

4. carlos is a very good clay player and richard want tested all that much by tomic

5. kohli recently beat denis but he's still 1-4 against him and even the win in dusseldorf was a 3 setter

6. you never know what you'll get with kuku but he's definately got the game to knock off isner

7. i'll never vote and say ernie is safe

8. tursunov should win but sam is capable of the upset

9. Jurgen is a former semi finalist here and he's been playing good stuff

10. jerzy got stretched to 4 by victor estrella, its not impossible to think jarko could beat him

I would love to see bolelli and thiem get the upsets but im not naive enough to think those will happen

I'm nervous for Jo's match. He should beat Melzer but he has been very inconsistent off late and Jurgen has been playing some good stuff. Could be a tough one.

Not confident for Jerzy either.

Gulbis is not in danger, he's facing Bagnis who's just played the first 5-setter of his career, an 18-16 5th set no less.

Whilst Jerzy did lose a set to Estrella I think this could be accounted to the fact he'd never played Estrella before and still was lacking some confidence from being on a 9 match loss streak. Nieminen got stretched to 5 by Polish Fed who is on a losing streak himself, which is longer than what Janowicz's was. Although it wouldn't surprise me if Jerzy loses I wouldn't be surprised if he wins either and quite comfortably too.

after all of ernie's slam losses how can you possibly rule him losing out to anyone?
I wouldn't rule it out if Bagnis was fresh, but he's not used to playing matches of such length and mental demand, I seriously doubt he poses any sort of meaningful resistance for Gulbis to crack.

All seeds in Dull's half, excluding Dull himself.
Given that 5 out of 6 of Nadal's most recent GS losses were against either Djokovic or non-seeded players, all the seeds getting knocked out in R2 would officially turn this into the draw from hell for Rafa.

it's a huge shock to learn there are still some seeds left there

I love it how Seppi is always in danger here

Hopefuly he proves us wrong once again and sends Mugaco back to Nadal.

Top 5 most likely:

1 - Jarko Nieminen v.s (22) Jerzy Janowicz[ - Jerzy is in pathetic form.

2 - (28) Philipp Kohlschreiber v.s Denis Istomin - I think these are fairly well matched.

3 - (23) Gael Monfils v.s Jan Lennard Struff - Monfils isn't reliable, Struff has had some good results this year.

4 - Thomaz Bellucci v.s (14) Fabio Fognini - Fognini is a clown, Belucci best form comes on clay.

5 - (1) Rafael nadal v.s Dominic Thiem - I don't think this is likely at all but I don't think there are many likely upsets in this round. Thiem looks a good talent so you never know.
