hehehe............me again.

Just wandering.

Might not have been that specific players first slam, but it may just have made you remember it the most, or you just enjoyed it the most.

The choices are endless :p hehehehe.

I must say that the morning (Australian time) that Rafter won his first US Open in 97 was one of the best.
It seemed that everyone who at least knew something about tennis was walking on air around my high school.

I remember leaving for school while the match was going, and getting to Art class. The teacher who knew I was a huge tennis fan, she said "Simon, what are you doing here, shouldn't you be watching the tennis?". If I had have known how she felt, I wouldn't have turned up.....hehehe.
The class ended up listening to the match on the radio.......even the girls who didn't know what was happening enjoyed the win.

Ran out of class, and everyone was talking about it. Little did I know that that day would be such a huge step forward for Australian tennis.

It was truly amazing. Felt good to be able the celebrate the win with others.

I followed Kuerten through the final few rounds in the 97 French Open, and the was another happy moment. Seeing this skinny kid come from nowhere (as far as I was concerned) to win the title, and finding out about the story about his father made it so memorable.

The way Goran won, after so many disappointment was brilliant, and when he dedicated the win to Drazan Petrovic sent a chill up my spine.

Finally, after following Carlos through to the final of the Aus Open in 97, seeing him win the French the following year was very enjoyable.
Seeing Daniela win a Grand Slam would give me similar feeling to how I felt seem Carlos win.
I cant wait......

Lleyton winning the U.S Open :D I choose that above Wimbledon because he won the US Open before he was the dominant player on tour, before he was number 1. Also it was his first grand slam and beating Pete in the final, who at the time was playing great, was a great win for Lleyton!

He isn't my fave, and I'm not always a fan of some of his comments, but seeing Goran's emotional win just about made me cry.
Totally agreed, I actually did cry when he won. just seeing the emotion of Goran crying when he had his first match point. Though I was also gutted for Pat Esp in his speech when he made the comment: "Someone had to lose, and I'm the loser again" That set me off  Another is Albert Costa Nobody gave him a hope in hell in fact he wouldn't have even entered my mind. Even though he beat Juanqui :( He was a well deserved winner. And finally Lleyton's USO victory of Last Year his 1st deseved Grand Slam and you could see how much it meant to him :)

Hey, there's no if involved GoLleyt.

My favorite would have to be Goran. I think everybody cried. I was in Croatia on holidays when he won and the atmosphere there was absolutely amazing. People celebrated for a long time. Remember his reception? Who else would be greeted by so many people.

Knowing how long he struggled to achieve this dream makes it even more special. I read somewhere that after his first loss in a Wimbledon final, someone wrote on his car: "You will never win Wimbledon". Fans can be so cruel sometimes... And yes, his speech in which he mentioned his dear friend Drazen (whom I used to watch and cheer for as a little girl), was really moving.

1989 French Open. Then 17 years old, Michael Chang beat Stefan Edberg in 5 sets. I cried in my living room, it was so emotional, having won over Lendl in that unforgettable quarterfinals, as if it was the finals itself.

Guga winning the French Open for the first time, with Guillermo Vilas on the podium and Guga bowing to him aka Wayne's World (i'm not worthy!) and a big smile on his face. You can't help but like the guy.

2001 Wimbledon, Goran finally winning the title after being in the finals for the nth time! Sorry, Pat. Would have loved to see you win, too.

Thomas Johansson at the Australian Open. I didn't have access to a TV to watch any of the coverage, but I *HAD* to watch the final this year. I had to go to a public place, but I went and cheered my head off and when victory came at 2 am or so, I think I almost cried. :)

All of Gugas RG titles.
Goran winning Wimbledon, yes. I was rooting for Pat, but I was happy for Ivo in the end. :D
