There's always an interesting juxtaposition when Queens starts. Right after months of red clay, we are treated with some of the best grass courts in the world. To me, the green grass courts are really beatiful and easy on the eye, which is one of the reasons I like the grass "season".

What is your take? Do you prefer red clay or grass?

Grass. Clay is for pushers.

My eyes want to see more orange than green, so clay for me. Not to mention, clay courts look even more beautiful when the GOAT paints (rules) them with his slides.

If I have to choose between an orange shirt and a green shirt, I would pick an orange shirt.

If I have to choose between an orange pant and a green pant, I would pick an orange pant.

If I have to choose between an orange underwear and a green underwear, you bet, I would pick an orange underwear here as well. :D

Grass is for servebots.

Red clay and grass both look amazing to me.

However, I absolutely loved how Madrid 2012s blue clay looked.

Both are the GOAT surfaces. Hard and Carpet are anti-tennis nonatural surfaces.

I personally prefer the look of red clay, particularly under Mediterranean sun or the lights at Rome. Grass is also a beautiful surface though and the sudden transition to soothing looking grass after a couple months on fiery clay is always nice.

I'm partial to Gerry Weber Stadion's grass under the sun. Love the shadow pattern created by the roof:
