At minimum, Nole defends last year points from Canada and Cincy and wins USO - about 4500 difference ... just enough to secure year end No.1

Less than 1000 has an extremely low probability.
If Nole exits from the first match in Toronto, Cincy and USO he loses 1710 points. Nadal already loses 2000 points, and can gain no point in USO as he defends the title.
So, Nadal is virtually at 10670 and Nole at 11420, in the condition of Nole performing the minimum possible and Nadal the maximum possible after the comeback.

On the other side, Nole can score no more than 2260 points, and if Nadal does not come back for USO, he loses a total of 4000 points. So, that would mean:
Nole - 15390
Nadal - 8670

So, the minimum gap possible is 750 points and the maximum possible gap is 6720 points. Just to lay in the mathematical boundaries.
